And from what?

Kigurumi, like other warm pajamas and sweatshirts, is made from fleece - soft, breathable, hypoallergenic, light and the most comfortable fabric in the world. It is so pleasant to the touch that it is not surprising that people do notwant to part with their costume even on the street.

Fleece material is quite economical, its price is about 400-600 rubles per linear meter. But we must remember that we will need quite a lot of fabric.

In addition to the fabric you need: scissors, thread, buttons, Velcro or zipper, pins, elastic band. It is also highly desirable to have a sewing machine.

What size?

Did you decide on your totem animal and color? Now let's see the sizes of the kigurumi pattern.

In principle, the drawing is quite simple and intuitive, but still explain:

  • height is height;
  • chest width - chest girth, if it is appropriate to express it in this case;
  • torso width - hip circumference;
  • sleeve length - sleeve length.

As you understand, all these measurements are very conditional, since kigurumi still implies a very, very loose cut. The main thing is not to miss with the length of the sleeves and legs, the rest is not so important.

Pattern

Kigurumi pattern is universal for almost all costumes. There is only one basis and it is not at all complicated. Further details are added - ears, tails, horns, teeth, eyes, tummies, palms, wings, tentacles - whatever you want.

Steps

  • Since the details of the kigurumi pattern are very large in size, it is better to draw them either on old wallpaper or on newspapers fastened with adhesive tape. We transfer the pattern to paper, scaling according towith your measurements, cut out.
  • Lay out patterns on fabric, fasten with pins. There is one important point here: you need to follow the direction of the pile of the material, it should go from top to bottom.
  • Cut out the details of the costume from the fabric. It is worth considering that fleece has one unpleasant feature - the threads can crumble a lot. This is something to keep in mind.
  • If some decorative elements such as stripes, spots or a contrasting belly are planned on the body, then sew them on first.
  • If the main part of the jumpsuit is monophonic, then we fold the fabric parts of the kigurumi pattern with the right sides inward, fasten with pins and sew on a sewing machine. It should look something like the one shown in the photo below.

  • Sew a zipper, Velcro or buttons into the front section of the suit.
  • Sew on the sleeves. We measure the right amount of elastic and sew it into the cuffs on the arms and legs.
  • Sew the inside of the hood.
  • Separately sew the ears and don't forget to attach them by stitching the top of the hood. If the ears are not planned in the place where the side seam passes, then they can be sewn separately later.
  • Finally, the main work is done. It's time for creativity. On the outer part of the hood we place and fasten the elements of the muzzle with pins.

In terms of time, sewing one suit from a sketch to the final result takes an average of one day. Of course, it all depends on the degree of detail and complexity of the decorative elements, but it’s not a pity to spend a weekend on such a cool thing. You are guaranteed a great mood.
