Children are engaged in the application of colored paper from early childhood. Already in the nursery group of the kindergarten, kids stick mugs or squares. Children in the younger group use several details in their work, laying them out in the correct order. The teacher must complete the sample work and explain the sequence of actions.

Older children master different types of applications from colored paper, cut out details with scissors on their own, using sheet folding techniques several times.

Children of 6-7 years old come to school already with a base of skills and abilities. The first grade curriculum is no different from pre-kindergarten requirements, as many children who do not attend preschool have to catch up with their peers.

In the article, we will consider several examples of colored paper applications for children of different ages, we will offer the reader a choice of various ways to make pictures.

Applique types

Working with paper involves a wide range of means, depending on the subject of the image. In the "Program of education and training in kindergarten" this visual activity is divided into threesection: subject, plot and decorative applications.

  1. Object - the image of a single object, for example, a snowman, a bunny, a pyramid, etc.
  2. Storyline - some action is taking place in the picture or many acting characters are depicted. For example, the plot of the fairy tale "Kolobok" consists of several elements. You can also stick a house on the Kolobok window, there is a forest and a path nearby.
  3. Decorative - decoration of household items, furniture or utensils with small elements of floral or geometric ornament. For example, the teacher distributes cardboard eggs to the children and offers to decorate the egg with mugs, stripes, triangles, etc. for the Easter holiday. A sample is given to younger children. Further, preschoolers can already come up with a pattern on their own by cutting out elements from colored paper.

Paper Techniques

They begin to master the application of colored paper with a simple planar gluing of finished forms. Over time, children master other ways, doing work from circles or hearts folded in half, collecting pictures from stripes and using the weaving method. Interesting works are obtained from twisted corrugated paper balls, from quilling strips.

Classes are often planned using torn paper, creating mosaic images from small pieces or whole parts from torn shapes. You can also make voluminous pictures or postcards from small pieces of paper wrapped around a pencil. There are a huge number of ways to work with colored paper, as well as types of paper. It is textured andcorrugated, corrugated and double-sided, glossy and plain. Let's take a closer look at simple colored paper applications for preschool and primary school children with step-by-step instructions for doing the work and photos.

Hedgehog from loops

This work can be done with children 3-4 years old. It consists of many elements, but their teacher prepares them. On plates in front of the kids lay out the body of the animal, paws, eyes and nose. To create needles, many identical strips are cut. After the teacher explains, the children stick strips folded with loops around the drawn torso. They are arranged according to the type of petals in different directions, except for the lower part.

Then the head, paws and small details of the face are glued on. You can suggest drawing a mouth with a marker. For older children, an apple with a leaf is additionally cut out. It is glued under the needles so that they remain voluminous. Such an application of strips of colored paper is planned at the end of the year, when the children got acquainted with the basic techniques for gluing parts onto a sheet of cardboard.

Ladybugs

All kids love to explore insects, butterflies, beetles and even worms while walking. The most popular among all the guys is the ladybug. After the onset of spring, observations are organized in nature, including insects. After such an excursion, you can consolidate knowledge about the beetle on colored paper applications. Children are given several circles of red or orange color for gluing them in semicircles to each other. When all elements are connectedhalves, the extreme sides are already attached to the cardboard.

Then stick the head and antennae. If you wish, you can give the guys the task of cutting out short black paws. Children of the middle group will cope with this task easily. Small black circles are attached to each circle before gluing the body of the insect. The work is voluminous, bright. Of particular difficulty for kids is bending the circles in half and sticking them correctly. All parts of the body need to be beautifully straightened so that they do not accidentally stick together. Eyes can be assembled from two white and black circles or ready-made toy eyes can be attached.

Christmas tree

In winter, the theme of colored paper appliqué is often a Christmas tree decorated with toys. In a group of a kindergarten or a school class, you can make a large collective work and place it on the wall. Each branch is made of circled palms. Children are given green paper, a simple pencil and a hand stencil. You can pre-cut it after tracing your own.

Schoolchildren draw a stencil along the contours and cut out a “twig”. You need to stick the details on a large sheet of drawing paper, starting from the bottom of the tree. Pay attention to the children to observe the triangular shape of the Christmas tree. All "palms" are placed fingers down. The last detail represents the top of the tree, so it is placed in reverse.

Colored paper appliqué for children is decorated with bright balls. Themcan be made from threads or pompoms, dyed pieces of cotton wool or finely chopped tinsel. The stump from the bottom of the tree is made at will. If space permits, you can supplement the work with a snowman with a broom and cut out snowflakes from several times folded white paper.

Crocodile Gena

After reading the famous work of E. Uspensky, you can make an applique of its main character. Crocodile Gena is the kindest hero of the fairy tale who helps everyone and works as a crocodile in the zoo. Either preschoolers in the preparatory group or schoolchildren in the applique lesson can make a subject picture from a variety of details. Circles of different sizes are cut out of green colored paper.

The largest parts are for the torso and head. The medium-sized circles depict the paws of the beast. Small details adorn the crest of the tail, needed for the eyes and tongue. Children are given circle templates, which must first be circled and then cut out on their own from double-sided colored paper in green, orange and red. They are arranged alternately in a form bent in half, gluing is consistent with the pattern given by the teacher.

Applique "Aquarium" from colored paper

For the plot application of the aquarium, fish, algae, pebbles at the bottom are cut out. The fish can be made in different sizes and positioned swimming in opposite directions. The children cut out the details either on their own or the teacher prepares them, depending on the age group of the kids.

Appliquea colored paper fish is made according to the method described above of drawing up a figure from circles bent in half. The body of the fish is left flat, and the largest element is chosen. From the parts bent in half, the mouth, fins and tail of the fish are laid out. Algae can be made up of thin strips or assembled in the same way as the rest of the craft - from circles.

Fish in two ways

The next sample of colored paper fish appliqué made in various non-traditional ways can be seen on the main photo of the article. The process of making such crafts is quite lengthy and scrupulous, so you can divide the lesson into two phases. The first day you can invite the guys to make an application from strips of colored paper. To do this, a fish body template is cut out and, starting from the tail, strips folded in the form of a droplet are glued. Double-sided paper colors alternate. You can lay them out in stripes, as in the sample in the photo.

The second day is devoted to working with small elements. Small squares are cut out of strips of corrugated paper. Then each is put on the back of the pencil and all the paper is pressed around the rod. Holding it with your hand, glue is smeared on the base of the pencil and immediately attached to the place of gluing. You need to remove the rod carefully and strictly vertically upwards. The crumpled paper in the form of a cylinder remains in place. In order for the children to understand where the borders of each color are located, you need to draw eyes and a mouth on the fish template and divide the rest of the body into strips.

"Terry" mushrooms

If the children are inperfectly master the technique described above for drawing up small elements from corrugated paper with a pencil, then we can offer to make a family of boletus mushrooms. First, individual elements of the picture are cut out of colored cardboard - mushrooms of different sizes. With a pencil, you can separate the hat from the stem and outline where the grass will be placed.

For further work, a large number of small squares are pre-prepared (about 1-1.5 cm2). The pencil is selected in a round shape so that when pressed on it, the corresponding bases for gluing are obtained. We will not describe the work step by step again, since you are already familiar with this technique.

Intricate ornament

Geometric applications made of colored paper can be both simple and accessible for kids, and complex, consisting of elements similar in shape. Decorative applique of figures can decorate a towel or beads for mom, a flower pot or a soup pot.

There are many options for using geometric shapes in this type of fine art. However, it is rather difficult to compose such a picture as in the photo above. The arrangement of parts starts from the central element. Children should carefully consider the pattern, know the shapes and correctly determine the cardinal points.

Bunnies weaving

Another original way to make an applique is to place contrasting stripes in a large detail. A bunny is cut out of paper according to the template, then the paper is folded in half along the center line of the body and horizontal cuts are made with scissors. Pre-prepared strips are inserted into the slots, pulling the strip from below, then from above the cuts.

The next strip is drawn in a different way. First, on top of the strip cut on the belly of the hare, then from below. On the finished craft, the visible parts of the inserts are staggered. Excess edges are cut off, and the ends of the strips are glued to the sides of the craft.

Snowman at night

Only schoolchildren in labor lessons can make such a winter application from colored paper. First, the outlines of trees and a snowman are drawn, then white and black paper are folded together, only it is placed with the back side up.

Then all the elements of the plot picture are cut along the contours. After everything is laid out on the front sides, it can be seen that the image of the parts is not the same, but a mirror image. First, white parts are glued onto the upper half of the sheet, then their “shadows” are located under them. The main condition for a quality craft is to clearly position the black elements so that the joints are not visible.

The article presents only a few options for performing work on the application. You can apply these techniques in different ways, inventing new subject or plot pictures. Fantasize with your kids!
