Which fabric to choose

For this purpose, you can easily use a coffee lid or cut a circle of the desired diameter from a file folder. You will also need cutouts. You may well be able to make a pattern of a “rose” pillow with your own hands. It is best if you take paper for freezing. But if there is none, then the usual one will do.

You only need four different patterns for a flower. Two petal sizes and two leaf sizes.

Now about how to make a rose pillow with your own hands. The patterns, the photos of which are presented in this article, must correspond proportionally to each other. It is very convenient to use freezer paper for them. Each pattern needs ten copies. What is good about freezing paper in this case? Well, first of all, you don't have to circle the same thing ten times. The do-it-yourself hand-drawn pattern of the "rose" pillow is reproduced in the right amount on paper and cut out. You simply lay out the parts with the waxed side to the material and iron them. BUTthen cut around the workpiece, retreating to the allowances. And secondly, the use of such patterns allows you to most accurately lay them out on the material and thus use the canvas sparingly.

Cut fabrics

Before you cut out all the details and apply them, the canvas must be ironed and folded in half or two parts together face to face. In order for the fabric not to move out during the process and you do not end up with cutting errors, pin the material along the edge with pins.

In order to get a decorative pillow "rose" without errors and distortions, the pattern must be evenly laid and accurately cut. If you use some old clothes for sewing, then you need to rip it, remove all threads, wash and iron well. And only then lay out the details of the pattern on the fabric.

Sew leaves

Before us is a fully cut decorative pillow "rose". We do not need a pattern yet. And we start sewing leaves. We should get five large leaves and five small ones. Details need to be folded face to face and stitched. After that, you should trim the excess allowance, cut off the corner and make notches in convex and curved places. We do not stuff the leaves. Cutting the corner from the inside is done so that the corner has a neat, clear shape on the front side. When turning the leaves, help yourself with a wooden stick. Just be careful not to damage the fabric or seams. After all the leaves are turned inside out, they must be ironed well. To give them a more interesting look, lay a line,stepping back from the edge about 0.5 cm. If your sewing machine allows, then select a decorative stitch for this purpose.

Create petals

How is the do-it-yourself "rose" pillow made, the patterns of which were discussed above? She cannot do without petals. In our version, there are only ten of them. Five large and five small. Each petal consists of three identical parts: the upper and lower parts are made of fabric, and the middle one, which is located between them, is made of batting. Although the petals, of course, can be sewn from two parts and filled with filler. In the latter case, each petal will be voluminous in itself, like a pillow.

Thinner petals, like leaves, are stitched along the edge to give a three-dimensional effect. Now you need to collect two rings from the petals. One of the large petals and the other of the smaller petals. To do this, lay two identical petals side by side and pin them together. If everything suits you in their form, then set the machine to the longest “zigzag” and sew in the place where they are most strongly in contact with each other. Do this until all five petals are closed in one circle.

Then do the same with the other five petals. If your petals are not flat, but voluminous, then they should be collected in a slightly different way. First, a base is created from two circles of matter with a synthetic winterizer or batting located between them. And thenlarger petals are pinned to this circle and attached using a typewriter. After that, smaller petals are superimposed with the second tier, and the same is done with them. And in the original version, leaves are attached to the bottom of a large flower and between the petal rings. And now you need to complete the sewn pillow "rose" with your own hands. The patterns that we learned to make in this article, we only need to add one more and complete the middle of the flower.

Flower center

You may have noticed that the pattern of the rose pillow did not have a detail for the middle of the flower. Now we will look at how to perform this middle in two ways. For flat and volume flower. So, for a flat flower, it is proposed to make a wicker center. To do this, take a piece of square-shaped fabric and draw a network with small square cells on it on the wrong side. Now, in a checkerboard pattern, draw diagonals in the cells. In different rows, draw diagonals in different directions. Now it remains to connect the edges of each diagonal with a needle and thread.

From the front side, the fabric will look like a basket weave. Now pull it all onto a plastic blank and sew or just glue it into the middle of the flower. There is another option for the middle part. This piece is a long but narrow rectangle. You can even say - a strip. Two such strips of fabric should be cut. We sew them together, turn them inside out and lightly fill them with stuffing material. We need to stuff it so that this stuffing does not prevent us from folding this strip.

After the part is done, it needs to be rolled up, giving it the shape of a rose and secured by hand with a needle and thread. Now this middle should be placed in the center of our pillow and sewn by hand.
