Papier-mache supplies
How to make a paper plate with your own hands? Here's what you need:
- Newspaper, although regular sheets of paper will do.
- Blank white paper.
- A plate that will serve as the basis for all the time.
- Liquid glue - PVA. Or you can make your own paste. It needs water and flour (starch will do).
- Water container.
- Oil, vaseline or soap. This is to keep the paper from sticking to the plate. You can do without it. But then it will be more difficult to unhook the finished craft from the mold.
- Materials for decoration (paints, foil, markers, stickers, beads, sequins, rhinestones, shells, etc.)
Papier-mache technique
Now let's get down to the practical development of how to make a paper plate. Materials are ready, you need:
- Make a paste if notfound PVA glue. Proportions for the paste: 1 part flour to 8 parts water. To do this, heat the water and gradually begin to pour flour into it, stirring to get rid of lumps. You should get a batter that needs to be allowed to cool before using. If you are making from starch, then pour it into an aluminum or enameled bowl and add water. Stir until you get a thick mass. Add boiling water to it while continuing to stir. The ratio, as with flour, is 1: 8. Later, you can add a little more boiling water to make the paste thinner. Strain.
- Tear small pieces of newspaper, about 2 by 5, but they don't have to be the same.
- Lubricate the mold with oil, petroleum jelly or liquid soap. Apply the first coat by dipping the pieces in water.
- Subsequent layers stick. There will be about 7 of them in total. The last one is made of white paper.
- The plate should now be completely dry.
- Carefully detach it from the base with scissors or a knife.
- Trim the edges.
You can draw anything on the plate and add stones, beads, sequins and so on (it is better to stick with not very liquid glue so that there are no streaks on the paper).
