Today, in none of the civilized countries there is a person who does not have an idea about the lotto. And of course, each of us is able to say even half-awake what the name of the barrel with the number 90 has. The historical homeland of the game is Europe. The Russian name "loto" comes from France - "Loto" and from Italy - "Lotto". In countries where the English-speaking population rules, the lotto is called "Bingo", which means "Victory", "Yes", in the CIS countries it bears the name acquired during the reign of the tsars in Russia - "Russian Lotto".
"Russian Lotto" - the game of the universe
The most widespread lotto in Russia was in Soviet times. This is the time when everyone from young to old knew what the name of the barrel with the number 90 had.
Soviet families preferred to spend their leisure time devoting it to playing loto. One need only recall how in the 90s a successful alternative to television in many families was the game of loto, whichdedicated entire evenings. The ability to involve all family members in common leisure, regardless of age and level of erudition - that was the main reason for the demand for the game.
What makes the game great?
Today playing loto is not just an interesting, exciting pastime, but also a chance to win a valuable prize. Many of us cherish the hope of winning a coveted but almost unattainable individual home or vehicle in the lottery. A few years ago, with the launch of such massive lotteries as Superloto and Your Lotto, Russian lotto got a chance for a new life, and every Russian-speaking viewer, even those who did not know this before, remembered what name the barrel has with number 90 and his 89 friends.
Keg names. Origins
The names of barrels in Russian lotto reflect all the richness of the centuries-old Russian fantasy. Here are some of them:
- "grandfather" (90), "grandmother" (80);
- "pretzels" (88);
- "ax" (7), "hatchets" (77);
- back and forth (69);
- "half a hundred" (50);
- "half we ask" (48);
- "curly" (33);
- "eating alone" (41);
- “swan” (2), “geese-swans” (22);
- "point" (21);
- "drumsticks" (11);
- "for three" (3);
- "count" (1).
Each of the above names of barrels in the loto has a certain logical explanation. For example, "grandfather" (90) is the "oldest" among the barrels, and its name fully reflects this, "swan" (2) - the number "two" is similar toa swan with its long neck, "geese-swans" (22), which means goose and swan (the goose also has a long arched neck); "axe" (7) - a graphic representation of the number "seven" like a hatchet, "axes" (77) - two sevens, i.e. two hatchets and so on.
Playing lotto is not only excitement and adrenaline, but also a kind of exam for attentiveness. It is worth being distracted and missing only one called number, as the winnings can literally “float away” from the hands.
The intrigue is maintained from the first to the last moment of the gameplay. Both one person and several participants can win at the same time.
The number of players is not limited and tends to infinity. One of the players is the leader. Usually this is a person who remembers exactly the original names of kegs in Russian loto. The host can also take part in the game as a full-fledged player with game cards. The host is solemnly presented with a bag of barrels with a face value from one to ninety. An obligatory moment of preparation for the game is the process of reproducing in the memory of the players what name the keg with number 90 and its counterparts have. Before the start of the game, the kegs in the bag are thoroughly mixed.
Each player receives (according to old customs) from one to three cards. There are three rows of numbers on the cards. There are 9 cells in each row, 5 of which are occupied by numbers, and you have to play with them.
The host, without looking, takes one keg out of the bag, calls it out loud and puts it aside, the playerstime, they check if there is such a number in their cards, if there is, they cross it out.
It should be remembered that the same number can be repeated in several existing cards, and you need to cross it out in all.
Traditionally, the winner is the player who crossed out all the numbers in one of his cards. But there are other variants of the game, as mentioned above, when there can be several winners. In the “Short Lotto” variant of the game, the winner is the one who crossed out all the numbers in one of the lines of any card in hand. If the game goes in the "three by three" mode, then the winner will be the one who first closes the bottom line of any of the available cards. When one of the players closes the top line, everyone except the one who closed them doubles their bets. At the close of the middle row, the player takes a third of the bet.
