Despite the abundance of various fabrics, many craftswomen are drawn to create something from unusual materials - plastic bags, bags, even make dresses from newspapers. Some of these creations even end up periodically in museums of modern art and are shown at exhibitions. In principle, such a work of skill and imagination can be easily put on, for example, on Halloween. Attention and admiration will be guaranteed for sure.
Materials
So, how to make a dress out of newspapers? First of all, we will need any unnecessary newspapers read and used, glue, lots of tape, a stapler, s alt and a dress, a mannequin or a live model.
Getting Started
The first stage is preparatory. After all, making dresses from newspapers is not at all easy. We take newspapers prepared in advance, cut them all into strips ten centimeters wide and fold each lengthwise four times to make the paper thicker and much stronger. Now we call our living model (we take a mannequin or measure everything according to another dress) and put two strips on her shoulders, like shoulder straps. Send two more taken elements to the hollow between the breasts at an angle of forty-five degrees to get a classic V-shaped neckline. We wrap the other end of the strips around the shoulders or neck to form the neck of the dress. We fasten everything with a stapler or simple glue. We take two more pieces of paper and wrap them under the arms of the model, forming the base for the sleeves. We attach the ends of the strips to shoulder straps.
Step two: making mortar
Dresses from newspapers need to be fastened with something. For this purpose, we prepare a special mixture of PVA glue and plain water. Add two tablespoons of s alt to it, mix thoroughly.
Step Three: Coating
The base for the dress is already there. Now we take long strips, dip them into the solution and apply around the torso so that part of the back and neck remain open. There should be no more than four layers of newspapers. We leave everything to dry. We take out the scissors, cut it on the back (in the back of our bodice), punch holes for lacing and leave to dry. We choose long stripes and add them vertically to the base, simply repeating the natural forms of a live model or a chosen dress. The ends of the strips must be glued or sewn, as it suits you. To make the dress longer, just add more elements.
Skirt shape
Dresses from newspapers can be made in a variety of ways: straight, sun, with wedges, even with a semblance of a crinoline. If you want to create a pleated skirt, you needfold newspaper sheets so that they turn out to be an accordion (that is, alternate in different directions). It will take about twenty sheets for this. After sewing or gluing them, we attach all this to a ready-made corset (by the way, you can also use adhesive tape). From the inside, the entire dress must be glued with adhesive tape to make it stronger and prevent the newspapers from tearing. Around the neck, hem and waist, it is better to make several layers of adhesive tape, so it is more reliable. At the joints and breaks, it is also worth strengthening the dress with the same adhesive tape.
Final stage
Dresses made from newspapers (photos show this very clearly) seem light, weightless, they seem to be easily torn. Actually this is not true. To strengthen the product, a layer of varnish or glue is applied on top. So the paper will not stain the skin, it will not be able to get damp and tear. However, you still need to put on such an outfit carefully and with outside help. A variety of tinsel, sequins, stickers, bows are quite suitable for decoration. Wear carefully, avoiding water, strong wind, fire and sudden movements.
