Circular crocheted motifs are the basis of many interesting handmade products. We can safely say that the use of such elements helps to create the most beautiful dresses, tops, skirts, bedspreads, tablecloths and other items.

What is a motif, element or fragment

For a beginner who is just learning knitting wisdom, the sight of a round pattern can cause surprise or even horror. Where to start, how to move from one row to another and how not to make a mistake? A motif is a fabric that is crocheted (sometimes with knitting needles) and serves as an integral part of a larger product. Motives can be of different forms:

• Round.

The principle of knitting a round motif

As the name suggests, these pieces are knitted not in straight lines, but in circular rows. The beginning is always a ring of air loops (VP) or a protracted loop, whichever is more convenient for you.

Each new row should start with a ch lift. If the first in the row is a single crochet (StBN), then one loop falls on the rise. For a single crochet (StN) - three VPs, for St2N - four and so on.

An important point: at the end of each row, you need to make a connecting column. This means that the last column must be connected to the first in such a way that the row looks even. To do this, the hook is inserted under the loop of the first column, the thread is grabbed and pulled through the first and last columns. The connecting posts are not knitted, in fact it is a broach.

Let's consider the theory on the example of knitting a rather simple flower fragment.

1st row: StBN is knitted into the initial ring,then a chain of 5 VPs is made and StBN is done again. This element fromtomust be repeated seven more times.

According to the scheme, the center is made with a colored thread, which is cut off at the end of the row.

2nd row: start with a new thread. In the center of the arch, StBN is made from 5 VPs, then 5VP is knitted and StBN is performed in the adjacent arch. The sequence is repeated seven times, ending not with StBN, but with a connecting column.

3rd row: 3 ch lift, ch 2 ch, ch 3, sc,ch 3, ch 3 ch, ch 3, sc. Repeat six times, end the row with three VPs and a connecting column.

Such round motifs, crocheted, can be sewn into a whole canvas with a needle or connected by chains of air loops. The method is also popular when motifs are connected when knitting the last row.
