Patterns of pillow toys are very simple. They can be drawn independently based on your own preferences and the desired dimensions of the product. This does not require special knowledge in cutting or drawing skills.

How to make a toy pillow pattern?

First you need to come up with a design and choose the shape of the future product. It is better for novice craftswomen to limit themselves to basic geometric shapes and create an animal out of them, such as a cat, as in the image below.

Those who have flown by planes know how uncomfortable economy class seats are. Airport shops always have special pillows in the form ofbagels that are worn around the neck for a comfortable sleep in the cabin. Often they are made in the form of little animals. To build such a pattern of a pillow toy is a matter of 5 minutes, but it will bring a lot of joy to the child, remind you of home on a long journey and allow you to relax in comfort.

The details on the left are absolutely identical to the details on the right, but for clarity of the sewing process, the toy will be cut from two pieces of different fabric. The pattern must be cut out of paper or special tracing paper. Allowances on the edges of the parts, if desired, can be done more.

Choose fabric for the cat

Material for homemade toys can be any trimmings and remnants of fabric. Even a toy made of calico, due to handmade work, will look unusual and stylish.

When creating a pattern of children's pillow toys, you need to think in advance about the combination of patterns and textures, the fabrics used. Preference should be given to bright, natural and soft materials. As a filler, it is better to use synthetic winterizer and other artificial fillers that do not cause an allergic reaction in children.

How to sew a pillow toy (cat) for a child?

Pattern details are laid out on pieces of fabric and circled with tailor's chalk or pencil. The lines should be clear and neat. According to the cutting, the cat will have a multi-colored body and ears. It is worth applying the contours of the allowances, for greater ease of use.

All edges of fabricpatterns must be processed on an overlocker or in any other available way. The parts of the torso are folded face to face, fastened with sewing pins and sewn with a sewing machine, leaving only a small section of the seam unfinished to turn and fill the pillow. The cat's ears and tail are sewn in the same way.

The body and tail are turned right side out and filled with padding polyester or cotton. Stuffing the body should begin with the paws and head. For convenience, you may need a long stick or pencil. The seams are then neatly finished by hand on the right side. You need to try to make the stitches as invisible as possible. It is better not to fill the ears, but just turn them out.

Next, you can sew on the ears and tail of the toy. At this stage, it is not necessary to make the seams invisible. A slightly "sloppy" seam will give the cat a special charm and indicate the manual execution of the toy. On the belly of the cat, you can embroider the name of the child or attach a small label indicating the home address and phone number of the parents.

To make the cat's eyes look like those of factory toys, you need to purchase special beads in a needlework store. If you can’t find these, buttons will be an excellent replacement. The nose, cheeks and mouth are easy to embroider with colored threads or draw with special felt-tip pens for fabric.
