Create a beautiful do-it-yourself hedgehog costume

All parents sooner or later have to think about a carnival costume for a child. Sometimes in the kindergarten they require some specific images if the baby is involved in the production and plays a key role. But most often for the New Year, a masquerade or just a festive event, they offer to dress up with someone of your choice. There are three exits here. You can rent a costume, buy ready-made or make your own. So, we make a hedgehog costume with our own hands.

Animal image

First of all, a hedgehog is an animal that traditionally appears in fairy tales as a solid, wise, respectable creature. So the costume should be chosen in such a way as to match the appearance. Frivolous bows and cheerful pink flowers are not needed here. What do you need?

Costume Parts

So, the hedgehog carnival costume caninclude a plain shirt (it is better to choose yellow, white or blue), a colorful colored vest (if there is no pattern, you can take a plain one and decorate with braid, sequins or tinsel if it is a New Year's costume), plain or striped trousers that are in harmony with the top, and fancy shoes. On the head you will need a cape in the form of a hood with needles, which will go down to the back (you can sew it from a baize or any other fabric, add a gray, black or white lining), you can put on a mask.

Cape

The do-it-yourself hedgehog costume is made so that the cape hood looks like a hedgehog's prickly back. To do this, "needles" are attached to it (cut out circles from a black bag, fold and glue). The hood is fastened with a butterfly, button or bow, which should be bright and contrasting in color with respect to the rest of the costume.

Hedgehog mask

In principle, of course, the mask is not a necessary element of the outfit, but if the kindergarten is allowed, and the child wants to wear it, it is quite possible to make a pretty muzzle of the forest sage. A do-it-yourself hedgehog costume will look much more interesting with her. We cut out the mask from cardboard, glue it on top with the same fabric from which the hood was sewn, because theoretically the cape is a continuation of the muzzle. The nose is made from a piece of foam rubber covered with black fabric (anything will do here, even the same bike, even felt, even a cut from black tights) is sewn or glued to the mask. For moreyou can even make a mustache and attach it to the nose. To do this, pieces of thick fishing line are threaded through it, fixed from the inside with glue (so that it cannot be pulled out). The eyes of a hedgehog can be decorated by circling with gouache (diluted with glue) or by sticking a black twine. The finished mask is attached with an elastic band. Everything, in general terms, a do-it-yourself hedgehog costume is made.

Assembly

The only thing left to consider is the decoration of the finished costume. It all depends on the nature of the holiday and the desire of the needlewoman. You can attach a light plastic or knitted apple to the cape, and decorate the outfit itself with sparkles, ribbons and bows. You will get a great hedgehog costume.
