- Cut out the fabric - front and back. Remember to leave 1.5-2cm seam allowances on each side.
- Now you need to attach the zipper to the edge of the fabric in the middle of one of the sides and mark the ends of the fastener with pins.
- Seam the bottom edge. To do this, step back from the edge of 1.5 cm and draw lines from both edges of the pattern.
- From one pin to another, sew, setting the stitch to the widest - you can zigzag. It does not need to be tightened as it will be removed later.
- Place the clasp inside out, teeth down, in place and secure with pins.
- Lead the line as close to the teeth as possible - this is necessary for easy insertion of any pillow with anyfiller.
- Sewing the zipper on one side, do the same manipulations on the other.
Remove the previously laid line, and you're done - the zipper is sewn on!
How to sew a hidden zipper into a pillowcase
In order to sew a pillowcase or pillow cover, you need 2 rectangles with sides 23 x 41 for the front and 31 x 41 for the back side. The zipper should be about 41 cm or longer - the excess can be cut off.
So, how to sew a zipper into a pillowcase so that it is not visible:
- On the smaller rectangle, set aside 3 cm on each short side and fold it inside out. Iron. Do the same again.
- Take another rectangle and set aside 2 cm on it, bend it and do the same again. A piece with a large fold is located at the top and hides the fastener, and a zipper will be attached to the smaller edge.
- Apply the lock to a small rectangle, the edge of the fabric should pass over the teeth. And with a long zipper length, the material should lie in the center (fix it with pins).
- Now stitch along the very edge, next to the teeth. The edge of the foot can be used as a ruler for a smooth stroke.
- In the second piece of material, straighten 1 fold and attach it to the free side of the zipper "face to face" - the fold of the fabric should coincide with the edge of the fastener.
- From the top, a seam must be laid from the edge, allowing 2.5-3 mm - a fold is obtained that will cover the lock.
- Now, having measured 3 cm from the hem, you needdraw a strip with chalk, secure with pins and lay a seam.
With the zipper half open, sew the sides of the fabric near the edges of the zipper and cut off the excess.
