Why yarn quality matters

Many beginner knitters who choose material by eye and not by the data on the label make the same common mistake: they buy acrylic. Visually, it can look like cotton, viscose, wool or even mohair. However, this does not change the fact that acrylic is a man-made fiber. It does not have the properties of the materials it imitates.

Acrylic yarn can be chosen for making products that will not be used often (dolls, decor, disposable costumes). If you plan to create clothes, you should take care that the thread does not roll, does not stretch, does not deform and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.

Knitting a women's sweater with acrylic needles is the same ascook a festive dinner from instant vermicelli: efforts are spent, and the result is deplorable. One thing is good - the money is saved. However, the value of such savings is questionable.

Acrylic clothing is usually either very hot or cold, does not let air through and causes discomfort (especially if it is an imitation of mohair).

There is a huge amount of decent yarn for making a variety of garments. Their price is determined by the quantity and quality of the natural fibers that make up the material.
