How nice it is to wrap yourself in a warm, hand-knitted blanket on a winter evening. Pay attention to this model in the "grandmother's" style: it is very easy to make, because it is based on a square motif. The crocheted edging is reminiscent of coarse lace, which gives the throw a grace and makes it very cozy. Any craftswoman who has the most basic knitting skills can do such a thing in just a few evenings, without looking up from watching her favorite TV shows.

How to crochet an old style quilt?

You need to start with the preparation of tools and material. Choose a color scheme for the base of the plaid. The threads should not be thin so that it turns out warm and quickly goes through a process such as crocheting. Square motifs are separate parts of the future blanket. They are performed in the same way, but may differ in color scheme. In our case, the remains of multi-colored yarn were used to decorate the middle of each square. In total, you need to make at least 48 pieces. Although, depending on the thickness of the threadsand knitting density, the square crochet motif can be made smaller or larger in size. Therefore, it will be necessary to adjust the number of parts after knitting a test sample. Choose a hook of at least No. 3, 5 so that the canvas is not too tight.

The finished look of the blanket will give a border, which will not only level it, but also become its decoration. In our case, the openwork edging is knitted according to the following pattern. First row - single crochet, Second - double crochet through one loop + air. Third row - double crochets. The fourth (last) - knitting scallops according to the scheme: 5 single crochet + 12 double crochet in the 3rd loop. The border can be made to your liking. The tassels made from the remnants of the colored yarn that you used to crochet each square motif look very nice. With a little imagination and following this simple technique, you can design and create original items for your home.
