Quite often, the state uses the images of famous personalities to draw attention to any subject or idea. This fully applies to the image of George the Victorious. The coin with it is known not only to experienced numismatists, but also to amateur collectors.
Gold reserves of the country
The state constantly uses the investments of the population by putting up for sale coins of various denominations made of precious metals. To interest the buyer, images of various celebrities or famous architectural monuments are placed on them. At the beginning of the 2000s, a sculpture of St. George the Victorious was used for these purposes. The coin appeared in different versions. For all the time it was minted both on gold and on silver blanks.
In the winter of 2006, the first batch of money with the image of George the Victorious on the reverse went on sale. The coin was issued with a circulation of one hundred and fifty thousand pieces. After that, it was decided to temporarily suspendproduction and resume it if necessary. With this amount, the government hoped to replenish the gold reserves that the famous Chervonets had provided to it until now. Such a marketing ploy was quite successful, and a little later, Russian citizens were able to see the already silver George the Victorious. The coin appeared for the first time in 2009 and quickly sold out.
A good investment
Strange as it may seem, but immediately there were a lot of people who wanted to buy gold coins "George the Victorious". The price in 2006 was relatively small. In the branch of any bank, it could be purchased for 10-15 thousand rubles. If we talk about the income of the average Russian, then such an amount in those years could seem quite significant. But this is not an everyday purchase, but a long-term investment. And gold has always been the most successful way to save existing capital. Over time, the situation in the country has changed. Of course, the international situation also had an impact, which slightly shook the domestic economy. To normalize the current situation, the government decided to again mint gold coins "George the Victorious". The price of them has increased slightly, and now one copy will cost about 25 thousand rubles.
This is a very reasonable price. In addition, it should be taken into account that such a coin with a total weight of 7.89 grams contains 7.78 grams of pure precious metal. And at a market value, this is already more than 22 thousand. It is clear what isinvestment can be considered quite successful.
Variants
Over the past ten years, the gold "George the Victorious" was minted in two different versions. These were coins in denominations of 50 and 100 rubles. In the second case, the weight of each instance was doubled accordingly. Each hundred-ruble coin contained 15.55 grams of pure gold. Naturally, its price was 50.5 thousand rubles.
Outwardly, the coins are practically no different from each other. On the reverse is an image of a sculpture by the artist Baklanov, where St. George, sitting on horseback, strikes an evil snake with a spear. On the obverse, as usual, in the center there is a double-headed eagle with the inscription "BANK OF RUSSIA" under the wings, enclosed in a ring of dots. Above - the value of the face value, below - the year of issue, on the left - the name of the valuable metal with an indication of its exact sample, and on the right - the amount of this metal in grams. This money was issued in different quantities by both the Moscow and St. Petersburg mints. Moreover, the trademark of each of them was indicated on the right side of the obverse.
Sales volumes
During all this time, quite a lot of these coins have been issued. And over the years, their number has changed constantly. At first in 2006 there were only 150,000 of them. Then in 2007 there were already 500,000, in 2008 - 630,000, and in 2009 - 1,500,000 pieces. Since 2010, the production volume was only 640,000, in 2013 - 500,000, in 2014 - 300,000, and in 2015 - only 30,000 pieces. But not all of the coins on sale can boast of decent quality. knownfifty-ruble copies, on which traces of partial oxidation appeared over time during storage. This manufacturing defect was allowed during minting at the St. Petersburg Mint. Basically, quality copies went on sale. For those who want to make a reliable purchase, it is better to purchase Sberbank coins. "George the Victorious" is available there in all versions. And decent quality is supported by a reasonable price.
Besides, it is very easy to make a purchase in such a place. To do this, you only need to present your passport, and experienced operators will do the rest in a matter of minutes. In addition to quick clearance, the purchase of valuables in such a place is the safest, since the buyer can be absolutely sure of the quality of the purchased goods.
