How to make a trunk for a tree from beads (master class)
Creating a tree trunk is a rather capacious process, but fascinating and simple. Having prepared all the necessary materials, you can safely get to work:
- Knead the plaster according to package instructions. Line the prepared container with cling film.
- While your gypsum is still warm, set the prepared wood into the mortar. Drown the tree well, preferably as much as possible. To keep your tree from falling while the gypsum mortar hardens, support it with a large stone or a handy object for this.
- When the gypsum mixture has completely hardened, remove it from the container. Now the creative process begins directly, where you will need to give the trunk the look and shape of a real tree. To do this, you need to coat the wire trunk of a tree with fresh gypsum. You can apply several layers to give the product the desired shape.
- After the applied layers are dry, pick up a knife and make a few longitudinal strips on the trunk, imitating the bark of a tree.
- The gypsum base of the tree will undergo some changes. It is necessary to give it the shape of a stone with roots. It is known that gypsum is a soft material, and it will not be difficult to cut out the roots from it.
- At the last stage gouache is applied. Completely cover the finished roots and trunk using a damp sponge. The paint will lighten the edges and give the stone a smooth transition from dark to lighter shades.
- In order for yourthe paint did not peel off and did not get dirty, the finished product can be opened with a transparent varnish.
Gypsum mortar will need to be poured into it.
You will end up with an original tree that grows on a rocky mountain. A gypsum mixture stand will securely hold the tree. A layer applied on top of the wire base can give the trunk and branches more naturalness.

Make a trunk for a tree from beads
Almost all bead tree making workshops are based on the fact that the tree trunk is made from skeletal twisted branches.
In our article we will consider an alternative option for making the base, where branches will be attached to the finished trunk.
Thus, you are invited to study the master class on making a tree trunk from beads in a step-by-step form.
So let's get started:
- Take thirteen pieces of wire - according to the number of future branches, each 70-80 centimeters. Leave 5-6 centimeters at one end and twist it, forming roots. They should go completely into the stand.
- Try on the protruding ends of the wire to cut to size.
- Your roots should fit entirely in the container.
- Now wrap the bowl with foil - for easy removal after the plaster has dried.
- Put your roots in a prepared container and fill with plaster.
- After dryingremove the plaster from the mold, but do not rush to remove the foil. While you start making branches out of the wire, the foil will protect the form from damage and chips.
- Separate the first three wires and twist them around the barrel. Try to keep the wire snug against the rest of the free segments.
- At a height of 10-15 centimeters from the roots, leave the first wire - the lower branch, and continue to wrap around the trunk with the remaining two.
- Rising another 1-2 centimeters higher, leave the second wire - the second branch.
- Do the same with the third wire. You now have the first three branches.
- Next, take the next three pieces of wire and do the same with them as before. Twist them around the trunk, remembering to back off 1-2 centimeters from each branch.
- This is the way all pieces of wire should be twisted.
- What to do with the length of branches? Rule one: the lower branches should be longer than the upper ones.

- thick wire;
- alabaster or building plaster;
- toilet paper or paper towel;
- a small plate or bowl of an interesting shape, for a coaster;
- foil;
- PVA glue;
- pliers and wire cutters.
Decoration of the trunk
Try your plaster blank to the size of the main container intended for support. It is necessary that the small container fits completely in the main stand.
The execution sequence is as follows:
- Now wrap the main bowl in foil and remove the small one.
- Place one coaster inside the other. Dilute the plaster and fill it with it.
- You need to pour in small portions so as not to make a mistake with the amount of gypsum.
- After drying, remove the foil from the stand.
- Take small strips of foil and use them to form the roots and trunk of the tree.
- Now move on to wrapping the barrel with paper towel, PVA glue and some water.
- Glue the stand along with the barrel.
- Cut narrow paper towel ribbons, wrap them around the barrel. Start at the bottom and work your way up.
- When finished, coat the entire surface with glue.
- Paste the entire trunk in the same way. Your branches should remain free. They need to be decorated only after fixing deciduous branches.
- Glue the stand for strength with a second layer of paper. For convenience, you can immediately add paint to the glue.
- When the stand is dry, you can move on to the top of the stand.
- Paint the roots and bottom of the tree trunk dark. For the strength of the support, use paints mixed with PVA.
Final elements
To simulate grass, you can use the remnants of the beads. To do this, spread on top of the standglue and sprinkle beads.
You should have a universal barrel. Now you can move on to work on the crown. How the tree will turn out is up to you. It can be alder or sakura, depending on which branches you attach to your base.
The main thing to remember is that being accurate in your work and understanding what you want to achieve in the end will help you get the right result.
