There is a flower in nature that attracts all needlewomen! It can be large and decorative, yellow and orange, lush and single-tiered. This mysterious flower is called the sunflower. You can embroider paintings from satin ribbons with your own hands, make hair ornaments, brooches, headbands, necklaces, create topiary in combination with other material. Let's start considering the master class with sunflower embroidery.
Preparation for embroidery
Depending on the size of the picture or panel, select the width of the satin ribbons. For large flowers, ribbons 1, 2, 3 centimeters wide are suitable, and for small sunflowers, look for material up to seven millimeters.
For a picture, you can print a print with flowers, then you will embroider the foreground. If this is not possible, then draw a “sun” on the fabric - it will be a sunflower. Embroider petals from satin ribbons with your own hands along the drawn rays. To convey the slope of the flower, you need to keep a photo of sunflowers in front of your eyes. Turning the ribbon in different directions, give the desired shape, and fix this position with sewing threads to match the tonesatin ribbon.
To make the picture rich and diverse, buy a yellow, black and green ribbon in different shades. Or take a white ribbon (not artificial), paint with acrylics like melange yarn, dry in the microwave. The segments should not be more than thirty centimeters, and put a glass of water on a plate with ribbons to comply with safety precautions.
Ribbon embroidery: sunflowers
Please note that the "bottom layers" are embroidered first, then the foreground. That is, if the petals lie on the leaves, then first embroider with a green ribbon, and then take a yellow one. Also, for the lower petals, take dark segments, and for the upper petals - bright colors. Before work, cut the tape obliquely to thread it into the needle.
Further, fold the other end several times into a “square”, drag the needle through the middle, so a knot is formed. Now, from the outer border of the circle, drag the tape from the inside out to the face. Shape the petal with your fingers (with a needle from the inside, draw back and forth), closing the drawn beam and straightening the ribbon.
As soon as you decide on the slope, hold the tape with one hand so as not to break the shape, with the other, pierce the edge of the tape with a needle. Gently drag it to the wrong side, pull on the desired edge to secure the slope. Then move on to the next petal. So embroider the entire bottom layer of the flower, the petals can be located at a distance from each other.
Continuation of the master class on embroidery
To make a natural sunflower from satin ribbons with your own hands, embroider the second layer with bright yellow ribbons, placing the petals close to each other at the base. If the opposite edge of the petals lies on the core, then the seeds are embroidered first. They are made in several ways:
- embroider with French knots;
- sew on beads;
- fold the tape in half, string it “forward with a needle”, creating “tubercles”, sew in a circle.
If you need to embroider pollen, then go through the seeds with a narrow (1-3 mm) ribbon or floss, making small French knots with one winding. For decorative flowers, other ribbon embroidery is suitable. Sunflowers are created like daisies. Bring the needle out from the edge of the circle, determine the length of the petal, insert the tape near the entry point. Hold the loop with your hand, and insert the needle at the tip of the petal and fasten it with a stitch.
Next, move on to the stem. Usually you sew with a tape “forward with a needle”, then wrap the stitches, introducing the needle with a “zigzag”. From the stem, sew on the leaves in the same way as the petals. Frame the picture.
Sunflower tree from satin ribbons
You can create unusual beautiful gifts with your own hands. For the topiary, you will need a pot, a thick stick, a foam ball, small artificial sunflowers, plaster, sisal, hot melt glue.
Insert a stick into the foam ball, “scrolling” a hole in it. The trunk is glued with a black satin ribbon. Drip glue into the hole of the ball andinsert a stick. Now you start attaching sunflowers from the trunk.
Just cut off the stem from the flowers, leaving a tail (2-3 centimeters), drip glue at the base and “screw” the head. You can leave ponytails of different lengths, forming tiers, you get a magnificent topiary from satin ribbons.
Put the sunflower in a pot, fill it with plaster. Decorate with sisal and flowers on top. If you initially stick a braid to the ball and glue it with sunflowers, you get a decorative pendant. Purchased flowers can be replaced with "your own". That is, make sunflowers in the style of kanzashi and stick them on a foam base.
Sunflower with coffee
Chic combination gives dark coffee with bright yellow petals. This craft can be done like a topiary or on saucers. And if you do not put it in a pot, you will get a decorative flower.
How to make a sunflower from ribbons:
- cut a cardboard circle to fit the sunflower core;
- stick newspaper "balls" on it, forming a hemisphere;
- tie with threads;
- paste over with white paper;
- now attach coffee beans in 2 layers;
- glue yellow petals from satin ribbons from the inside;
- then attach the green leaves and decorate with a green circle;
- now wrap the trunk, attach decorative leaves;
- pour gypsum into the pot;
- put a stem in it;
- glue the sunflower;
- decorating a pot.
Petals in this case can be made in a simple way. Justfold the segment in half so that a triangle forms at the top, and at the bottom the ends of the tape overlap each other. And if you stick the grains on a foam ball, you get a sunflower with a convex core.
Kanzashi sunflowers
The essence of making any flower is as follows. Leaves with petals are glued to the base, and then attach the core. This is how you make kanzashi sunflowers from satin ribbons:
- Cut a two-centimeter tape into 6-9 cm pieces. At the top, cut corners, forming a triangle or oval, singe on fire. The other edge is folded (trimmed) and also fastened with a flame. You get either pointed or oval sunflowers.
- Also cut the tape into long strips. Fasten one end on the face, and the other on the wrong side, forming an acute angle.
- Fold the pieces of ribbon with a petal, as described when creating a coffee topiary.
- Scorch a square of a five-centimeter tape. Fold into a triangle, string with a needle, creating folds.
- You make a mini-flower from a five-centimeter tape. From the squares you make either sharp or rounded petals. Such a sunflower is suitable for rings, necklaces, earrings.
Stick two layers of petals on the base in a checkerboard pattern. Glue the black core on top. It can be satin ribbon, beads, beads, floss, yarn.
Panel
Let's consider another master class of satin ribbons for making panels. Prepare sunflowers in the style of kanzashi differentsizes, shapes, shades. To do this, use tapes of different widths. To make a miniature panel, take a disposable plate and stick sunflowers with leaves and berries on it. Thread the loop, decorate the edge with braid or cord.
For a medium panel, cardboard or fabric is suitable. On cardboard, preschoolers can create compositions from ready-made elements. For example, stick the petals in a circle, and decorate the middle with beads, glass beads or coffee beans. Frame your work and hang it on the wall.
And the fabric will allow you to combine kanzashi with ribbon embroidery. To do this, paint the background, mark the location of flowers, leaves, stems with dots or lines with a marker. First, embroider the stems and leaves, and then glue the sunflowers. You can embroider some of the flowers, and make some in the kanzashi style. Place them on a canvas, hang them on bamboo sticks and decorate the wall.
Summary of results
Sunflowers will decorate any craft. If you have never worked with ribbons, then choose a small job, and with experience move on to large paintings. Do not try to reproduce the satin ribbon master class with 100% accuracy, as this material is capricious. In each flower making, the ribbon lays down in its own way.
