Perhaps that is why toys in airy tutu skirts have always been one of the most favorite among girls, second only to the brilliant princesses. Let's find out how to create a tilde ballerina doll that is popular today with our own hands. And also consider how it differs from other textile toys of this kind.

Tilda

This is the name of a whole class of textile interior toys invented by the Norwegian artist Toni Finnanger twenty years ago.

Initially, only dolls were produced under the Tilda brand. Later, the range expanded to animals.

In addition to selling ready-made textiles, Toni began publishing a doll pattern magazine. And even later - to produce sewing kits, in which everything needed for the independent production of slender cuties was collected.

Unfortunately, in domestic stores, similar productsnot for sale. Therefore, our craftswomen, who want to decorate their home with tildes, have to independently collect everything necessary for their tailoring. Which does not prevent them from creating incredibly beautiful crafts of this kind.

Therefore, if you are going to sew a tilde ballerina, do not hesitate, you will succeed. Moreover, the process of making a toy is quite simple, and you already have most of what you need at home.

Tilde ballerina doll features

There are several dozen basic varieties of textile toys in the world. However, the brainchild of Finnanger cannot be confused with any other. The classic doll has the following features:

1. Long face and figure. Lush hips.
2. Traditional toys only have black beady eyes and rosy cheeks. You can also see other facial features in animals (for example, unlike a tilde ballerina doll, a frog has a nose as a bonus, less often a mouth).
3. Hair is made from thread or felting wool. And although many today prefer artificial wigs, it is still better to stick to tradition for the classic tilde. Otherwise, it will not be possible to achieve the effect of a "homemade doll".
4. The outfits for this toy are sewn in the "grandmother's" style. Preference is given to colorful fabrics with a small pattern or plain in pastel colors.

Interior ballerina doll has all the listed features of tildes, but at the same time has distinctive properties:

1. Always wearing a full skirt dress.
2. On the feet are painted shoes withties.
3. Hair in a bun.

In addition, each tilde ballerina (bear, bunny, girl, etc.) can be sewn in two ways:

1. According to the traditional pattern with straight legs and lowered arms.
2. With leg bent 90 degrees and arms raised above head. To make such a toy, you will need a slightly different pattern, and you can also insert a wire inside the limbs of the toy. Although, this is not required.

Basic pattern

Before you start sewing a tilde dancer, you should decide which of the two varieties listed above it will belong to.

If you make a ballerina by analogy with a traditional doll, the basic pattern for the princess below will do.

Note that her arms will not lift, just like her leg will not be able to arch even if the wire is sewn in.

For a doll with bendable limbs, this pattern is suitable.

As you can see from it, the legs are initially sewn at a right angle. In addition, when fastening, the hands do not fall down, but spread apart in different directions. This will allow them to bend both up and down.

Whatever pattern you decide to work with, do not forget that in this version, part of the outfit ("swimsuit" from armpits to legs) is sewn directly into the body.

Since the body consists of one piece, if you want to sew a tilde-ballerina of a hare, a cat, a bear or other living creatures, a headwill have to be cut separately. Since, unlike human toys, the seam on the muzzles of animals is usually not on the side, but in the middle.

In this case, the transition from head to body can be beautifully disguised with a scarf or ribbon choker.

From what to sew

As previously noted, most tilde materials can be found in any home:

1. The body of the doll is sewn from an opaque fabric without a pattern in beige tones. It is permissible for her to be white, but then the lady's dress should be of a different shade. Better if the fabric will stretch. But this is not a necessary condition. Therefore, you can use a bike, fleece, knitwear, even finely woven linen and so on. The main thing is that the material is dense and does not come apart at the seams.
2. For the upper part of the dress ("swimsuit"), any non-stretching, non-transparent fabric is taken. It can be not only natural materials, but also synthetic ones. For example, satin, crepe satin. You can use pieces from unnecessary curtains (not tulle), a petticoat, trimming a blouse. Yes, even the upper part of a children's white sock. The main condition is the material without holes, clean and without signs of wear.
3. Tulle or organza, collected in several layers, is best suited for a fluffy skirt. Even if they are not at hand, they are inexpensive in stores. The only negative is that you have to buy 0.5 m right away - they don’t sell less (unless it’s a specialized tulle ribbon). Long lace will work too. You can make a tutu from the same fabric as the "swimsuit", however, you will have to drape it or make itpetticoat.

Stuffing material and accessories

In addition to the fabric, when sewing a ballerina tilde, you will need stuffing material. Usually it is a synthetic winterizer or holofiber. You can get it from an old pillow or an unnecessary soft toy (of course, not from the times of the USSR).

In extreme cases, use ordinary cotton wool. However, do not forget that it is impossible to wash, and simply wet a doll with such stuffing.

If your tilde is with a frame, you will need ordinary copper wire without insulation to make it.

Also need thin ribbon for pointe ties, eye paint and shoes. And lace, beads or rhinestones if you want to further decorate your tilde.

Hair for a toy can be either drawn on fabric or sewn on pieces of yarn of a suitable color.

As for the tools, if you plan to sew everything with your hands, you will need a needle and thread, scissors and a sushi stick (to make it easier to turn the limbs inside out). If there is a sewing machine, then it is better to do the connecting seams on it, and sew on the limbs and the skirt by hand.

Doll assembly order

The process of creating a dancer tilde consists of the following steps:

Transferring the pattern to fabric with subsequent cutting

• Stitching the body, arms and legs. When working with the body, do not forget about the "swimsuit"!
• Stuffing and wire insertion (optional).
• Assembling the body of the toy. The legs are sewn on first, then the arms.

Making an outfit for a tilde ballerina

After the future interior beauty has found a figure, it's time to dress her.

To begin with, a skirt is sewn. No pattern needed. Just cut a rectangle out of the fabric and, tucking the edge over, sew it in any convenient way.

This is a place for a thread, elastic band or thin ribbon that tightens the dress at the waist. Do not forget that this "belt" should be tied only after all the seams on the skirt are made, and it is put on the tilde.

The resulting dress is worth decorating. You can sew lace, sequins or beads on top.

Hair and face

One of the final touches in making the ballerina tilde (photo below) is drawing the details.

If you are not very confident in drawing - start painting with pointe shoes. It is better to draw the shoe itself with specialized paint for fabric. After it dries, make ties. For this purpose, either dense threads or a thin tape 2-3 mm wide are suitable. Using a long, but not thick, needle, the ties are sewn at the base of the pointe shoe and then carefully laced crosswise and end in a bow.

Do not forget that the color of the shoes and the strings to them should be in harmony with the tilde outfit. By the way, the toe of the shoe can be decorated with rhinestones.

Having mastered drawing pointe shoes, proceed to the eyes. Unlike ballerina shoes, they are best applied with a cut toothpick or nail dots.

Please note: we begin to draw blush only after the coal eyes have dried. With thisprocedure, it is better to cover the neck and torso of the ballerina with a napkin so as not to get dirty.

The last thing is the hair. For traditional tilde dolls, they are made of thread or felt for felting. Such a hairstyle can be both glued and sewn on. The second method is preferable, because in case of failure, you can rip it up and redo it.

After the hairstyle is assembled, the doll is ready. If you did everything right, it will turn out not just beautiful, but cozy and unique. And if there are small flaws - it's not scary. After all, the tilde is exactly a homemade doll, which is made by hand. Therefore, some negligence is excusable for her and will even benefit her. But don't overdo it, because being a little sloppy doesn't mean slovenly.
