In order for a truly unique thing to appear in your wardrobe, you need to make it yourself. All famous couturiers admit that handmade is always a bright, individual element of any image. A thing will have a soul if you put a part of your own into it. You don't have to be a great master. Having learned the basics of knitting, you can create exclusive knitted jackets, cardigans and sweaters.

Basic pattern

The choice of yarn and pattern is not the most important thing. Work begins on knitted women's sweaters with patterns and patterns. You can create a simple option yourself by circling any T-shirt. Get a back pattern. To cut the shelves, you need to deepen the neck and divide the part in half if you plan to fasten. The sleeves are increased to the desired length, narrowing slightly towards the wrists. Be sure to add small allowances for a loose fit, especially if the T-shirt is narrow. The size of the neck should correspond to the girth of the head. It turns out something like this picture.

A paper pattern will help you correctly calculate the length and width of the parts and steam them evenly at the end of the work. You can limit yourself to a small scale scheme. In this case, it is necessary to put on it all the dimensions in centimeters and in terms of loops and rows.

Calculate stitches and rows

When the model and patterns are chosen, the yarn and tools are prepared, you have to do a little arithmetic. Samples of all patterns that are planned to be used are knitted. If a large braid is located against the background of a small relief, then the sample should have two fragments of the first pattern and several rapports of the aran between them. The sample will be large and will take some time, but the error in the calculations will be minimal. For an openwork pattern, you also need a sample of several rapports. Knitted sweaters with all sorts of exquisite patterns can be very deformed, unpredictably stretching in length and width. This effect will not be noticeable on a sample with a single repeat of the pattern.

The length and width of the sample is recorded in centimeters, as well as in the number of rows and loops. Using proportions, the dimensions on the pattern are also translated into loops and rows.

It's now easy to calculate additions and subtractions. For example, to expand the sleeve from the wrist to the shoulder, you need to subtract the number of loops on the wrist from the number of loops on the shoulder. The result is divided by two, since the additions are made symmetrically on both sides of the canvas. The resulting number of additions is evenly distributed along the length of the sleeve for a known number of rows.

The number of loops of the initial row shouldbe a multiple of the pattern repeat plus two edge loops. If the pattern is asymmetrically placed on the canvas, the finished item will look untidy.

Among other things, the sample will show how the pattern actually looks like, knitted according to the scheme of the selected yarn. Often the effect of a combination of color, yarn structure and needle size cannot be predicted. In this regard, fantasy types are especially insidious: melange and sectional dyeing yarn.

How to tie a sleeve

The easiest option when the armholes are not knitted. The top edge of the sleeve is straight. Loops for it can be dialed directly from the main fabric of the back and shelves and knit from the shoulder to the cuff. Sometimes it is convenient to create the entire product from the neck. Models connected from cuff to cuff look interesting. The pattern on them is located across the jacket. Very often, a straight sleeve is used in wide, voluminous models and in small children's clothing. It is best to use it in everyday and sports things. This cut allows for greater freedom of movement.

The set-in sleeve is suitable for tight-fitting, elegant and romantic models. Below is a diagram for knitted sweaters with this type of sleeve.

When the sleeve is knitted to the armhole, the number of loops on the needles is divided into six parts. Decreases in the first three parts are repeated symmetrically in the following.

The first group is divided into three parts:

  1. Loops close.
  2. Reductions are made in the front rows, first three, then two in each.
  3. Stitches decrease one by one.

Then dec 1 st on each side of the armhole is distributed over 1/3 of the armhole length.

further decrease by three loops to the end of the sleeve. The remaining stitches are cast off on the last row.

A little harder to knit this type of sleeve, starting from the okat. In this case, all actions are performed in reverse order.

The set-in sleeve requires knitting an armhole. To do this, determine the number of loops to be reduced, and divide into four parts:

  1. All loops close at the same time.
  2. Cast off three sts on each RS row.
  3. Closed in two loops.
  4. Loops decrease one at a time, through one front row, that is, once every four rows.

The jacket will not bulge if the shoulder line is beveled by one or two centimeters.

To make the sleeves symmetrical, you can knit them simultaneously from two different balls.

The raglan sleeve provides both freedom of movement and a soft fit. At the same time, it fits much easier than the previous version.

Usually, such a sleeve is knitted from the neck. Cast on the number of stitches needed for the neck on circular needles. Divide it into four parts. Two for the sleeves - smaller, for the back and front - more. If a fastener is provided, the front part is divided in half. You can knit a jacket on straight knitting needles. Places of additions should be marked with pins. On circular needles in each row, two loops are added at all four marks. On straight needles, the addition is made only in the front rows.

Adding withyarn over will create a chain of holes. Knitting additional loops from the broach creates a smooth canvas. Between two additions, you can knit two or three facial loops. A decorative strip will appear. Sometimes raglan is emphasized by knitting small braids between additions. When the product is ready to the bottom edge of the armhole, the parts continue separately on straight knitting needles. The narrow sleeve can be knitted in the round like a stocking, getting rid of extra seams.

Loops for raglan sleeves, on the contrary, decrease if the details of the sweater begin to knit from the bottom to the neck. In this case, the details are sewn along the armhole line as inconspicuously as possible. Relief patterns knitted along the edge of the fabric before decreasing help to hide the seam.

Types of collars

You can knit a jacket with a rounded neck, with a rectangular or V-shaped neckline. The first option will require careful calculations. The rounded notch of the neck is made according to the same principle as the armhole. Start knitting the neck from the center of the part, closing the loops in the middle. The remaining decreases are done symmetrically.

The simplest finishing options: loops are gathered along the edge for tying with an elastic band or facial stitch, from which a twisted roll is obtained. The edge crocheted in the forward or reverse direction looks neat. In romantic or summer models, a crocheted lace border is appropriate.

If you spend a little more time and imagination, the collar will become the main decoration of the jacket. There is a huge variety of types: stand, shawl, turn-down, golf, collar and various fantasy options. When choosing, you needconsider how the collar will be combined with the closure and cuffs.

Collar or hood can be knitted as a separate piece and as a continuation of the neckline.

Rounded hem

A bright and modern character can be given to the product with the help of a rounded edge. Using this technique, knit a sweater start from the bottom edge of the details. Most often, the back is knitted slightly elongated, in front of - raised,in the shape of an arch. You can connect both parts equally elongated or with an arched bend. It all depends on the imagination of the needlewoman.

The rounded effect is created using partial knitting.

For a raised edge:

  • knit an elastic band of the desired width;
  • the canvas is divided into four parts;
  • knit three quarters;
  • knitting flips;
  • knit two quarters and five or six more loops - this is an extension step;
  • knitting flips again;
  • an expansion step is knitted, two quarters of a straight fabric and another expansion step (so that holes are not visible, when the fabric is turned, the working thread is wrapped around the edge loop);
  • then the steps are repeated until all the loops are in the work.

For concave edge:

  • knit an elastic band of the desired width;
  • shelf loops are divided in half;
  • knit one expansion step from the edge;
  • work is turned over;
  • in the next front row, two expansion steps are knitted (the second shelf is knitted in a mirror image);
  • extensions are repeated until they are enabledall loops.

Types of rubber bands

The bottom of the product and the cuffs look neater if you start knitting the details with an elastic band. Apply a little trick so that the border does not look stretched. For the first row, the products are gaining only three quarters of the loops. In the last row of elastic, the required number of loops is evenly added.

There are many spectacular patterns to give the edge of the product elasticity. The simplest embossed elastic bands are 1 x 1 or 2 x 2, formed by alternating knit and purl loops. English gum is more fluffy and fits much tighter. French elastic looks like parallel small braids, looks great both on thick cardigans with a mix of embossed patterns, and on openwork sweaters.

The most patient needlewomen knit separately a long trim or a strip of a relief pattern to sew it horizontally to the edge of the sweater. Lovers of simple solutions will love the steering wheel from the front surface.

Beginner needlewomen should try their hand at working on their own model. In any wardrobe, women's knitted sweaters with a simple cut and pattern will come in handy. For example, such a universal thing is knitted in one breath.

The model in the picture is knitted with needles No. 3, from acrylic yarn. Loops are typed for a wide neck. Its decorative design is made in several rows of the main pattern. Garter stitch is simple in appearance, but capricious in execution. All loops mustknit with the same thread tension. Otherwise, the thin embossed stripes of the pattern will sag, and the canvas will look untidy. Garter stitch works best with thick yarn.

raglan sleeve
raglan sleeve

It is easier to knit a raglan sweater from top to bottom using circular needles. In the process of knitting, it will be possible to attach work to yourself, check and correct the error of the initial measurements. A three-quarter sleeve is knitted from the lower edge of the armhole on straight knitting needles and the shelves and back continue. The highlight of the model is asymmetric shelves that give the image a touch of carelessness. When knitting the right shelf, you need to make three buttonholes. Horizontal hinges are preferred. They do not stretch during operation and do not require additional processing. If decorative buttons are prepared in advance, they can be used to measure the size of the buttonholes. Since the product is almost not plowed, the side seams and sleeves are crocheted. This is the softest and most inconspicuous way. When processing, the edge of the sleeve is slightly tightened.

Examples of finished models

If creating your own model seems difficult, you can find a suitable description and knit a jacket with knitting needles from a magazine. Knowing the basic working methods will help you correctly adjust any pattern, recalculate the indicated number of loops for your knitting density and add individual strokes to the finished model.

Studying samples is usually the impetus for your own creativity.

Here are some knitted cardigans with patterns. Models are created by amateur needlewomen. All steps are well thought outindependently: from building a pattern to creating a pattern.

The model attracts attention with rich color and harmonious mix of patterns. A tight fitted silhouette is difficult to match with reliefs, but a good option deserves the time and effort spent.

Elegant ladies

To create a more sophisticated and sophisticated look, knit a cardigan.

two cardigans
two cardigans

You can use the simplest pattern with a straight sleeve, supplementing it with some interesting element or a complex technique, like the things shown in the pictures. One cardigan is knitted in stockinette stitch and decorated with a wide placket with an intricate aran. In the work on the second, the diagonal knitting technique was used. The front shelves were knitted from the corner. The usual garter stitch created using this technique looks fresh and original. An additional charm is given by the melange yarn used in the work.

For warm children's clothes, the thread should be especially soft. When choosing mixed varieties with wool, a skein should be attached to the wrist to check if the material is prickly. Usually used in moderationdecorative details so that the clothes do not hinder movement. For example, you can knit a jacket for a girl, as in the photo, with any lush aran, but it is better to make the sleeves with a simple pearl pattern.

The shape of the sleeve is straight. In small models, raglan is also often used, but a solid braid pattern does not fit well with it. In order not to be mistaken in size and not to suffer with the pattern, the knitted sweater is complemented by a set-in hood made of rectangular fabric. The edge of the hood begins with the same elastic band as the cuffs and the bottom of the product. During the knitting process, this detail is tried on several times to accurately determine the depth of the hood.

Such a practical item for a teenager's wardrobe.

Knit a sweater with a classic simple pattern quickly and easily. Fragments of a pearl pattern and a garter stitch in this model are knitted 16 loops wide and 16 rows high. By knitting a sample from your own yarn, you can change the size of the squares according to the dimensions of the parts. The main thing is to observe the symmetrical alternation of squares. Although most boys prefer zip-up sweaters, wide padded placket with buttons will also be a good solution. The raglan sleeve is accentuated with three stripes of front loops, between which loops are added.
