Things decorated with flowers, which are made by hand from various improvised materials, have again come into modern fashion. Small flowers, striking in their grace, as well as large bouquets, decorate bags, dresses of any style and purpose, jewelry. Artificial flowers are used for interior decoration, hair accessories.
Wonderful handmade fabric flowers are incredibly versatile. In order to make them, complex tools and expensive materials impregnated with a special composition are not needed at all. If you have small patches left over from sewing, feel free to use them. You will also need scissors, glue, needles and threads, jewelry (beads, buttons, rhinestones), patience and a great desire to create a masterpiece - wonderful roses. For fabric beginners, we recommend creating several different types of flowers.
Felt flowers
To begin with, let's try to make the simplest version of a rose from fabric - take felt.
The action is very easy. From a piece of pink felt of a round shape, it is necessary to cut out in a spiralstripes with wavy edges. Roll it into a neat rosette and secure with a needle and thread. Cut out a circle (base) and leaves of suitable size from green fabric, glue them from below to the flower. You can collect a two-color rose. The larger the initial circle of felt, the larger the finished flower will be.
Chintz flower
The next way to make a fabric rose with your own hands also does not require serious skills. For such colors, prepare a material of medium density, not too slippery. It can have a print, or it can be one-color. If you took a calico or chintz fabric, then you won’t need scissors for cutting - just tear off the strips and in no case process the edges. A fringe of protruding threads will give the roses an extra charm. The size of the flower directly depends on the length and width of the fabric ribbon. For example, a 2 x 45 cm strip will give you a finished product 4 cm in diameter.
So how to make a rose out of fabric? Let's get to work. We tie a knot on a strip of fabric - this will be the middle of the inflorescence. It is desirable to form a knot as tight as possible. Fold the edges of the calico strip together and wind around the core, secure with pins on a flat base. It can be a piece of felt or any non-shrinking fabric. In the end, carefully removing the pins in different places, glue everything with glue.
Rough cut roses
Original roses are made from denim.
This material does not have to be processed according toedges. Cut out several flowers that are the same shape but different in size. Let it be 5 parts with round petals. We put all the blanks on top of each other and sew them crosswise with stitches in the middle. We make a core of beads, rhinestones or just a beautiful button.
Scalloped fabric stripe rosette
Any heavy fabric will work for flowers with a scalloped edge. If the fabric does not crumble at all, then simply cut a strip with waves along one side. Otherwise, it is necessary to process the edge or make 2 patterns, sew and turn it right. Next, at the bottom of the strip along the straight edge, lay small stitches and pull the thread. It turned out to be a nice bud. Cover the stitches with sepals made of green fabric.
Organza peony roses
Now let's move on to flowers with a more complex way of making.
Very often they make roses from organza. To create such a flower, 2 technologies are applicable:
- classic;
- heat treatment.
In the classic version, all parts cut out of the fabric are treated with a starch solution, gelatin or special polyvinyl alcohol. After these procedures, petals are formed with special devices - bulbs - until they are given the necessary shape. For the lining, a floral pillow is used here, and the bulbs are heated to a very high temperature.
Heat treatment is that the fabric petals are singeed over a candle or spirit lamp. Suchthe option is only suitable for synthetic organza, since it does not burn, but melts. It is possible to change the shape of the blank by pulling it out and making a wavy edge.
To create a fabric rose with our own hands, we need:
- synthetic organza;
- tweezers;
- scissors;
- needle with thread in fabric color;
- alcohol or candle;
- beads, rhinestones.
At the beginning of work, it is necessary to cut out 7-9 round parts of different sizes from organza. Using tweezers, take one petal and work the edge over the candle flame, turning in a circle. In such a simple way, the petals are given a curved shape. Now put all the leaves one inside the other, in order from largest to smallest, so that the look of the peony rose is close to natural. Sew all the petals with a needle or glue with a heat gun - as you prefer. We decorate the center with beads, sewing them in the form of stamens. Cut out a circle from a thick fabric and glue it to the back of the flower. So our fabric peony rose is ready!
Realistic and wonderful
The most skillful and patient craftswomen will be able to create the next flower.
Prepare matter (plain cotton can be used), gelatin, bubbles, soldering iron, scissors, fabric paint, brush, glue or heat gun.
In the beginning of the creation of this beautiful fabric rose, it is necessary to impregnate the material with gelatin. To do this, prepare a solution: put 2 teaspoons of gelatin in a container, pour 100 ml of cool water there,leave for an hour to swell. Add another 150 ml of water and heat until the gelatin dissolves. It is strictly forbidden to bring this solution to a boil!
We lower the fabric into hot gelatin, gently squeeze out excess moisture (without twisting) and dry it, straightening the wrinkles. After proper processing, the fabric will rustle.
To make a beautiful fabric rose, patterns are a must! Take a real live rose and disassemble it into petals. Circle them around the contour on thick cardboard and cut them out - these are patterns.
Now cut out the petals from the fabric. All details are cut on an oblique, otherwise you will not be able to give them a natural shape.
The next step is coloring the petals. Take food coloring - they are the most affordable and pretty easy to work with. Paint to your taste, there is only one rule: closer to the center of the flower, the intensity of the color increases.
Add a little green at the base to the large outer petals. All colors are carefully shaded so that there is a smooth transition. Dry in the shade so that rough spots and stains do not appear.
So, the paint is dry, let's start forming the petals. We fasten the bulbs to the soldering iron and press the central zone of each petal, giving a bulge. We twist the edges in the other direction with scissors with rounded edges.
We will make the middle-base from a piece of foam. We begin to paste over it with smaller petals in a clockwise direction, slipping the last petal under the first. We continue like this with all small and mediumdetails.
The original version of the fabric rose will have a somewhat disheveled look. It's not scary - with the help of glue, carefully dripping it inside, we will give it an elegant shape.
Large petals fasten the same method.
Sepals are formed in the same way as flower petals. Draw veins with the rounded ends of the scissors. Glue from below to the flower.
Wonderful rose, which took a lot of time and effort, is ready to please you!
Satin rose from cut ribbons
Well, at the end of the article we will give another easy way to create a rose from fabric (master class).
This flower is created from pieces of ribbon up to 11 cm long. You can use several different colored pieces, it will be even more beautiful!
For creativity, prepare ribbons, pins, thread in the color of the ribbon and a sewing needle.
- First, let's collect the bud. Bend the end of the segment at an angle of 90 degrees, then again. We cut off the tape with a pin and fasten it with a thread. Repeat the same with the second edge of the ribbon.
- For the petals, take the next piece of tape and wrap the ends at a right angle. Sew the needle forward with a seam and slightly tighten the thread. In this way we make 6-9 petals.
- To connect into a single product, wrap the first petal around the bud, sew or glue. We do the same with the rest of the leaves. Carefully fix the base of the rose and glue it on the felt base.
