Perhaps because of this, the crane is one of the most popular types of origami in Japan, which has spread throughout the world.

Required Materials

Japanese cranes are made from paper. It can be absolutely anyone:

  • album sheet;
  • notebook sheet;
  • special paper for origami, which has a special texture and properties;
  • wallpaper leftovers;
  • color paper;
  • tracing paper;
  • other.

Size alsocan be anyone. But for beginners, it is better to choose medium-sized paper, because it will be difficult to fold the details of the craft from a small leaf, and it will not be very convenient to work with too large one.

If you used plain paper and want to decorate the finished craft, then you may need felt-tip pens (markers), glitter glue, paints and other decorations designed for decorating paper products.

Preparing paper

If you don't have a square sheet of paper, then take any and give it this shape.

1st way:

  • take a pencil or felt-tip pen, a ruler, scissors and paper;
  • draw a square;
  • cut it out.

2nd method (if the sheet is rectangular):

  • fold one corner of the sheet to its opposite side;
  • cut or tear off excess paper;
  • open the sheet.

  1. Take a square piece of paper.
  2. Fold it in half to make a rectangle.
  3. Open a sheet of paper and fold it in half again, only now you need to connect the other sides.
  4. Unfold the sheet, you should get two folds in the shape of a plus sign.
  5. Connect the top right corner to the bottom left. You have a triangle.
  6. Unfold the sheet and fold the other opposite corners together (now top left and bottom right).
  7. Unfold a sheet of paper and put it in front of you so that you get a diamond.
  8. Connect the top and bottom corners together.
  9. Place the left and bottom corners under the top of the figure. Fold lines will help to do this.
  10. You should end up with a kite-like shape (Figure 1).
  11. Connect the left and right corners of the top of the figure with the center fold line (Figure 2).
  12. Twist the triangle top down (Figure 3).
  13. Expand the last three parts. You will again have a kite figurine, only now with three additional folds.
  14. Fold the bottom corner of the square along the horizontal crease from the previous steps to the top corner (Figure 4).
  15. Fold the top triangle back (Figure 5).
  16. Fold the outer edges of the paper to the middle and align it. This will create a diamond shape with two flaps on the right and left sides (Figure 6).

  1. Turn the paper over and repeat steps 14-16 on this side (Figure 7).
  2. Fold the outer edges of the shape to the middle (Figure 8).
  3. Flip the right side over the left side as if you were turning the page of a book (Figure 9).
  4. Turn the figure over. Repeat step 2 on this side. Then fold the right flap onto the left flap again (Figure 10).
  5. Raiselower tip to the top of the figure. Turn over and repeat on the other side (Figure 11).
  6. Flip the right side over the left side as if you were turning the page of a book (Figure 12).
  7. Turn the figure over and do exactly as in the previous paragraph (Figure 13). This turned out to be wings.
  8. Fold the wings down so that they are perpendicular to the body, head and tail of the future crane (Figure 14).
  9. Fold the tip at one of the tops (Figure 15).
  10. Drag the figure by the head and tail so that they are on the same level (Figure 16).

You have a flat Japanese crane.

  1. Pull the flat figure of the crane by the wings in different directions.
  2. The paper between the wings will straighten out. Shape with hands if needed (Figure 17).
  3. Wrap the wings up a bit. This can be done with your hands or scissors (the principle of operation is the same as if you were making wavy ribbons for gifts or bouquets).

  1. Fold the sheet several times so that five folds are then formed, resembling the letter "Zh" (Pictures 1-5).
  2. Make a diamond shape (Pictures 5 and 6).
  3. Make several folds as in illustrations 7 and 8.
  4. Make a square inside the sheet (Figure 9).
  5. Make a shape that resembles a diamond with wings (Pictures 10 to 15).
  6. You have a blank for a crane that needs to be unrolled (Figure 16).
  7. Illustrations 17 to 25 show how to assemble a crane from a blank.
  8. When the paper is folded, spread the crane's wings apart (Figure 26).

A paper bird can be original if you make not only a fluffy tail, but also wings.

  1. Fold the sheet several times so that then five folds are formed, which are connected and resemble the letter “F”.
  2. Fold the sheet into a triangle shape, folding inward the extra sides, as in the previous master classes.
  3. Make two pairs of wings as in illustrations 3 and 4.
  4. Fold the two halves of the winged triangle together.
  5. Fold the corners of the new wings to the middle of the figure (Figure 5).
  6. Make the resulting figure a tail and a head (Pictures 7-9).
  7. Fold each wing like an accordionin illustration 10.
  8. Spread the wings apart, shape the craft (Figure 11).

The fluffy-winged Japanese crane is ready!

How can I use a paper crane?

Origami "Japanese crane" is not only an interesting craft, but also an original decoration.

From a dozen or more paper cranes, you can make a garland on a wall or a chandelier, decorations, paintings. And if you make a lot of small crafts and place them in a transparent jar or vase, you get a great decor element that will give your home a touch of personality.

Garlands, by the way, can be made in a variety of ways:

  • linear;
  • multilevel;
  • spiral and so on.

In order to make a garland, you will need a thread or fishing line. Just pierce the inside of the crane with a needle and pass a thread (fishing line) through the hole. And so every piece. Then either connect all the cranes into one whole, or tie it to a separate thread or stick (cornice).
