In order to sew pajamas yourself, you need to decide which model you like the most. Then measurements are taken and a pattern is built. For example, the simplest pajama pattern for a girl is based on a children's T-shirt.

To get started, select the material from which the pajamas will be sewn. It is necessary to use only natural fabrics, choosing them according to the season. Linen, knitwear, viscose items are good for the warm season. Flannel pajamas are suitable for cold weather. The pattern is based on the T-shirt in which the child feels most comfortable.

The thing is washed, carefully ironed and steamed before work. Then the T-shirt folded in half is placed on a sheet of paper and the outline is drawn with a pencil so that an allowance of 2 cm remains. The resulting blank is mirrored on the second half of the paper.

It is now convenient to work with this pattern. The sleeves can be lengthened or shortened, the hem can be made to any comfortable length. • pants length outer and inner - outer is measured from the waist to the ankle along the outer part of the leg, the inner is measured from the crotch to the ankle from the inside;
• waist circumference - a centimeter tape is laid around the waist; for the smallest children, as well as for large children, a centimeter tape is laid along the most protruding point of the tummy;
• hip circumference - measurement is made at the most protruding points of the hips;
• neck girth - the tape is drawn around the neck without much tension;
• shoulder length - the distance from the neck to the extreme point of the shoulder.

To build a pattern, many measurements are used in half. This is necessary so that the two halves of the pattern follow the contours of the body after assembling the product.

Suppose that for a child about a year old, the parameters will correspond to the values:

• thigh circumference - 25, 5;
• sleeve length - 26;
• product length – 31;
• pants length – 39;
• half neck circumference – 12.

Constructing a drawing of trousers

To get a pajama pattern for a boy, you need to draw a pattern for the front of the trousers:

1. A right angle is drawn in the upper left corner of the sheet of the required format. Point A is marked. It should be borne in mind that at the beginning of construction, about 5 cm recede from the edge of the sheet.
2. From this point A, a segment is laid down, the length of which is equal to the length of the trousers. This is point H. A line of sufficient length is drawn to the right of this point. This is the bottom line of the pants.
3. From A, a value corresponding to the half-girth of the thigh / 2 + 5 cm is marked down. This is point B. From this mark, a horizontal segment is drawn to the right.
4. Now from B to the right side, the distance of the half-girth of the thigh / 2 + 3 cm is postponed. Point B1 is marked. A vertical line is drawn up from it until it intersects with the lines of the top and bottom of the product. Mark points A1 and H1.
5. To the right side of B1, a distance equal to 0, 1 is laid off (thigh half-girth + 2 cm). Point B2 is marked.
6. After that, a bisector is drawn from B1 to the right. 2 - 2.5 cm are laid along it. Point B5 is marked.
7. From mark A1, a segment of 1 cm is drawn down. Point A2 is marked.
8. The distance B1H1 is divided in half, the middle point is point K.
9. Consecutively outline the contour of the trousers by points: A and A2, and B5, and B2, and K, and H1, and H.

The built-in pajama pattern for a child is suitable for modeling pajamas for an adult. The only difference will be that the sizes will be different.

Stitching pieces

After building the pattern, pajamas are sewn together. Sew (the pattern has already been transferred to the fabric withwrong side) very easily.

First, the inner and outer seams are sewn up to the very top. Then you need to hem the edges of the legs. This can be done with a sewing machine or by hand.

After sewing is completed, the product is carefully ironed on both sides.

Men's pajamas

Men's pajamas most often consist of shorts or trousers and a T-shirt. The pattern of men's pajamas is different in that another size is used when constructing the drawing - the length to the knee. It is measured from the hip along the leg to the knee. The leg is slightly bent. This distance is plotted on the vertical line AH.

The resulting pattern is also transferred to the fabric, cut and sewn. It is convenient to insert not an elastic band into men's trousers, but a decorative lace - it will not pull the body during sleep and is more suitable for an adult man.

Men's Pajama Top

When sewing pajamas with your own hands, patterns do not have to be model ones. Great for building a men's shirt patterna method where an old men's shirt is used is suitable.
