How did it all start? A few centuries ago shell casings did not exist as such, they are a product of the nineteenth century. Crafts from cartridge cases began to be made quite massively during the First World War. Its positional nature required a large number of people to be present at the front, although the fighting was not very active.

Then the soldiers thought what to do with themselves. Some of them began to make all kinds of crafts from shell casings. So, various cute trinkets, decorations and even useful things were made from them. For example, small secrets. Nowadays there are many different devices thatcraftsmen manage to make from shells. For example, lighters. Let's see how they are created.

Gasoline is used as fuel. Execution and caliber are not specified, so the freedom of creativity rests only on the available resources:

  • The spent cartridge case is taken. First of all, you need to drill a primer out of it.
  • Then his nest is drilled.
  • After that, a thread is screwed into the hole. There will be a refueling system. You can get by with a regular cork or even pour gasoline through a wick, although this is not very convenient.
  • Now you can move on to the muzzle of the case. First of all, it is necessary to select a workpiece that will have a few millimeters larger diameter. You need to drill a hole in it (in the center) a little smaller than the wick.
  • Filling / chop off / cut the workpiece so that a circle is obtained.
  • We put it on the bolt and tighten it in the drill chuck.
  • Turn on full speed and grind until you get a perfect circle that matches the diameter of the muzzle. A millimeter must be retreated from the edge and grind a little deeper.
  • Then the socket is created and pressed in. These two parts must be soldered to ensure a firm fit. A regular soldering iron is not the best option, and tin, to be honest, is not very well suited for this purpose. Therefore, you can use a gas torch and silver solder.
  • Now it's up to the cap. In his role, you can use a bullet. Butbefore that, it must be processed and leave one steel core.
  • The whole thing comes together, and it's time for the spark-cutting unit. As a base, you can use a rectangular piece of brass, which should be bent into the letter "P". Flint is pressed into it. The friction sparks and the lighter can be used.

Of course, the scheme is described in general terms. And the product is called a trench lighter.
