You can buy special tools in the store, but it’s easier to make them, taking into account the dimensions you need, by cutting out circles of the desired diameter from cardboard.
It is worth considering that the diameter of the pompom will be equal to the diameter of the cut out circles. In the center of them, you need to cut a smaller circle. For the convenience of winding the thread, circles need to be cut from the edge to the center or cut out a small segment. If you do not want to make a cut, then the thread canwind using a threaded needle.
To make a pompom with your own hands, you can take any yarn. The main requirement: if you use a pom-pom as a decorative element, it should match the texture and color of the clothes.
So let's get to work. Insert a strong thread or a thread folded several times between the patterns along the central circle. You will need it to tighten the pom-pom. Wrap the circles tightly with yarn, trying to distribute it evenly over the entire surface. You can make a pom-pom with your own hands for a performance using ordinary plastic grocery bags. For T-shirt bags, it is necessary to cut off the handles and rip the bag along the side seam. Fold several blanks on top of each other and make cuts across the entire width, not reaching the end of about 12–15 centimeters. Twist the uncut part of the bags tightly into a bundle and wrap it with tape. This will be the handle of our pom-pom. Don't forget to attach a loop to the end of the handle that you can loop around your wrist to hold the pompom.
