Most likely, your suitcase has already been packed, but statistics show that people, taking care of their appearance, simply forget about the comfort and convenience of rest. Just for you, we will tell you how to create a beach cover that easily transforms into a bag for personal items.

In bursts of enthusiasm and intolerance, we fly south, forgetting about the necessary things: whether it's a blanket for the beach or a large comfortable bag in which you can put a couple of towels, a spare swimsuit, fruit for a snack, cream and water. It is because of this rush that one has to buy all the accessories on the spot, paying for them an amount exaggerated several times.

Before creativity

It's time to cut out the blanks that we will use later. To do this, cut out a pair of identical rectangles with a width of about 70 centimeters from fabrics of two colors. The length is factory, which has a roll of fabric: usually about 150 centimeters.

Also, from the outer and inner fabrics, we will cut out several rectangles for pockets, the dimensions of which you adjust yourself. We cut the slings for handles about 60 centimeters long each. In addition, we trim the zippers, the length of which should not exceed 1/4 of the length of the entire rug.

Do not forget about foam rubber, which is also prepared for the stitching process. We will need about four rectangles, the total length of which will easily fit into our beach cover.

To the sound of a sewing machine

Now let's start the long-awaited period of stitching all the pieces together. In order not to confuse you, we will describe all the necessary actions in stages, thereby facilitating the process of visual perception of information:

1. To begin with, let's place all the accessories on the outside of the bag: to do this, spread the fabric along the entire length on a smooth surface, removing the resulting unwanted folds and folds. Now you can attach the handles by taking them to the fulllength. We place them exactly in the center, leaving a distance between the lines of about 25-30 centimeters. We pin everything with pins, check the symmetry on the ruler and sew it by hand or on a sewing machine. We do the same on the reverse side.
2. Sew a pocket of the same color on the outside. To do this, we take a blank of a rectangle, the width of which should not exceed 1/4 of our bedspread, grind the edges, bending them by 1 centimeter and, attaching them to the base in advance, sew a pocket.
3. It's time to place the zippers that we have already prepared in advance: we will divide them into two parts and place them on the outside of the bag. They should lie so that the side from which we will insert the lock looks towards the center of the product. Be sure to baste the zippers with sewing pins and check the operation of the device. If everything is done correctly, then the lock will easily turn our bag into a large sunbed. Do not forget to sew the locks on the sewing machine, carefully fixing the ends.

Second side

It's time to sew the second part to our lounger. To do this, prepare the fabric by laying it out on a flat surface in advance, and sew on two pockets for personal items, bending the edges.

Now we combine the two parts: it is very easy to do this, since all the preparatory steps are already ready. We put these two parts with the wrong side towards us so that the front sides of both fabrics meet inside the product. Gently sew with a machine seam around the perimeter of the entire bedspread, leaving one of the short sides intact.

After that, turn the resulting "bag" inside out, thereby preparing it for filling. We take one of the four pieces of foam rubber, put it into the finished product to the very end and sew the fabric next to it to fix the filler. Also, the place of stitching can be determined by relying on the zipper: it ends in the same place.

When all the filler is already fixed with seams, bending the edges of the fabric, sew the last open hole, carefully adjusting the handles of our finished rug.

Strength test

Now that the beach cover and the bag are ready at the same time, we can check the performance of our creation. To be honest, when assembled, it's hard to believe that a couple of moments ago a beautiful beach accessory was lying under us, boldly replacing expensive store-bought sunbeds.

In addition, when our locks are fastened, we have a real large and roomy handbag in which a bottle of water, a couple of tubes of cream, a magazine or a book, a wallet with cash, a phone, keys and a lot more you definitely won’t take it with you in an ordinary rug.
