Owl costume: step by step, every detail

An owl costume can come in handy for a children's matinee or a costume party. Did you know that you don't have to buy it? Needlework skills will help in creating a costume with your own hands.

Owl

If you can't sew, then this way you can make an owl costume for a girl with glue. Materials:

• Grey and black fabric. You can use old clothes, as only scraps will be needed for the work.
• Scissors.
• Needle and thread or Moment glue.
• Sunglasses.
• Use a simple black dress or a turtleneck with a skirt as the basis.
• Cardboard.
• Stationery knife.
• Printer.
• Lace.

Progress:

1. Pre-draw a pen template on the cardboard. Cut it out.
2. Use it to make about 50-60 feathers.

Wings

• Wing base fabric.

What to do:

1. Create a template for the wings layer. Cut out the feathers using it.



2. Measure the size of the wings. To do this, find out the distance from the middle of the back of the neck to the tip of the child's fingers. And the distance from the same place, but to the coccyx.
3. Mark these measurements on the fabric. The ends should connect with a curved line.
4. Apply glue to the top edge of the feathers and press against the back of the wing. Let the first layer dry. Lay an oilcloth under the fabric so that the leaked glue does not spoil the table.



5. Start gluing the next layers, but already in the foreground. With each layer of feathers getting smaller, keep this in mind when you cut out the details on the fabric.
6. When all the layers are in place, cut off the excess pieces of fabric around the edges of the wing.
7. Cuttwo additional pieces the size of a wing.
8. Turn over the already made wings and sew a new piece to them. This is necessary in order to hide work defects such as translucent parts and leaking glue.
9. Glue additional feathers from the same fabric on the protruding first row from the wrong side.
10. Sew a glitter ribbon along the edge of the wing on both sides.
11. Sew the wings to the black sweater from the neck to the end of the sleeve.
12. Sew feathers onto the jacket.

Owl face

Do-it-yourself owl costume is made from the cheapest materials. For the muzzle you need:

• Hat. Look for the right one in old clothes or in a cheap store.
• Buttons.
• Felt or felt.

• Glue.
