Collecting… For many, this hobby is rooted in childhood itself. Most professional collectors began by picking up coins from the asph alt at the age of five and carefully storing them in their children's hiding places. Years passed, someone outgrew this hobby, but those who remained dedicated to their cause achieved stunning results. Why? Because it is in private collections that the most expensive things of our time are located, including rare coins. For the first time in Europe, people began to collect coins during the Renaissance. This interesting tradition has been preserved to this day. Everyone in this business pursues their own goal. Some people enjoy it, others consider collecting quite a profitable business, and a coin a profitable investment. Be that as it may, having chosen this path, a person, as a rule, is fond of some one direction. Today, for many fans of numismatics, the coins of Poland are of great interest.

History of Polish money

For a certain period of time, foreign currency circulated in the country, but after a while, coins of our own state production came into everyday use. Yes, it's coins. Early history shows that paper money, as a currency, appeared relatively recently, but people paid with metal coins at the dawn of human history. With the development of production in Poland, many mints appeared.

For some time a wide variety of money was minted there. After a while, a law on a single state coin was adopted, and only the government row had the right to “make money”. After this reform, the domestic and foreign economy of the country went uphill sharply, but after a certain period it turned out that there was not enough money in the state. This was the impetus for the development and introduction of a new monetary system. It was then that banknotes appeared - the national paper currency.

First "ringing money"

Since then, there have been fewer and fewer coins in use, and some have ceased to exist at all. It is these specimens that are of great value today. Like other developing countries, Poland is rich in rare metal money, which is currently of great interest to collectors and investors. Zloty is the modern monetary unit of Poland. Its first silver copy was minted in the 16th century.

After a century, when the country was ruled by Jan II Casimir, gold coins - "zloty" - began to be actively issued. Poland after some time experienced a violent collapse of the economy due to "credit", not backed by precious metals, money. Initially, not only state money, but also gold ducats that came from abroad were called “złoty”. The name stuck. And to this dayday coins of Poland are called złoty, although they no longer contain any precious metals.

Commemorative and commemorative coins appear

For the country, the sixteenth century was significant not only for this. It was in this century that the beginning was laid to depict kings and other representatives of power on metal money. Sigismund I was the first king to appear on the back of a coin of Poland. Thanks to such a reform and the meticulous work of medieval masters, today almost all residents of Poland can get acquainted with the history of their state, so to speak, in person.

In the second half of the twentieth century, the zloty began to rapidly depreciate. This happened as a result of a series of unsuccessful monetary reforms. After that, metal money began to be produced mainly from aluminum. The only exceptions are some commemorative and commemorative coins of Poland. Relatively recently, for the first time, metal money dedicated to the plane crash over the city of Smolensk saw the light of day. They are collectible and expensive, because the value of the coin is primarily affected by its rarity.
