Newspaper basket weaving requires preparation. The longest, laborious and monotonous work in weaving fromnewspapers are a preparation of tubes. First, with the help of scissors, you need to cut newspaper and magazine sheets into strips about 9 centimeters wide. Then a knitting needle is placed at the corner of the strip and the paper begins to be twisted at an angle of 45 degrees - this will turn out a tube of optimal density for weaving. It will bend well, but at the same time keep the shape of the product.

When almost the entire newspaper strip is wound on a knitting needle, you need to drop a small amount of PVA glue on the corner and glue it to fix it. If you did everything right, you will see that the ends of the newspaper tube are different: one is wider than the other. Thanks to this, you can lengthen the tube by simply inserting one into the other and adding glue. When the required number of tubes is ready, they will need to be flattened; for this, the blanks must be laid out on the table and walked over them with a rolling pin several times.

Weaving newspaper baskets. Getting Started

Weaving newspaper baskets by itself is a much more fun and creative process than making straws. First you need to decide on the type of product. Traditionally, baskets are made round or square, but experienced needlewomen can also experiment by weaving baskets. Newspapers can be used to create a variety of shapes.

The bottom for the first products is advised not to weave, but to make it out of cardboard. It is necessary to cut out two identical parts and stick newspaper base sticks around the perimeter or circle at an equal distance on one of them. Be sure to use an odd number of tubes. Paste the second one on top.cardboard part and put the load so that the bottom of the basket is well glued. It is best to leave the workpiece overnight.

Now you need to take a long tube, glue it to the base, secure it with a clothespin and start weaving a basket from a newspaper. Pass the tubes alternately under and over the base sticks so that in one row the newspaper tube lies in front of the main stick, and in the next it passes behind it. When you reach the desired height of the product, the weaving of the basket is almost completed. The base tubules need to be bent inside the product, with the help of a hook, put under several transverse rows and cut, smeared with glue and secured with clothespins.

It remains only to cover the basket with several layers of paint and acrylic varnish, and the result of your work will be ready!
