Inexperienced embroiderers maystart with a set. The set includes a special canvas - stramin, with a color pattern applied to it. Acrylic yarn cut into segments of the desired colors. Hook for carpet weaving, as well as thread, needle and ribbon for finishing the edge of the finished work. The instructions describe all the steps in detail.

Equipment and tools

Ready kits are not cheap pleasure. But the necessary materials and tools can be bought independently. In this case, the pattern and size of the product depend only on your desire. Any pattern for cross stitch is suitable for the template. One cross - one knot.

Stramin is the basis of any knotted carpet. In fact, it is a very strong and tough synthetic canvas. Small products, including pillowcases, can be embroidered on a regular large canvas. Aida 11 is quite suitable for this purpose. Expensive stramin can be replaced with a plaster or fillet mesh with small cells.

It is better to use acrylic or woolen threads. Artificial yarn products are easier to care for. The larger the grid cells, the thicker the thread. If canvas is used, then you can take embroidery threads.

You can buy a carpet hook at any craft store. The thinner the thread and the smaller the cells, the thinner the hook. The knitting machine needle is of the same design, so you can use it if needed.

Carpet embroidery technique is performed with pieces of yarn 5-7 centimeters long. Before you start work, you need to prepare the threads of all the necessary shades. Wind the yarn in tight rows around a 3 cm wide bar or ruler, then cut along one side.

Line the canvas into 10 by 10 squares. Just like in the pattern for embroidery. This can be done with a marker or thread in a contrasting color. When cutting the canvas, leave 5-7 centimeters to hem the edges. It is more convenient to start work from the upper left corner.

1. Take the thread of the desired color, fold in half. Throw the resulting loop on the hook.

2. Thread the head of the hook under one thread of the canvas.

3. Insert the free ends of the thread into the lock of the hook and pull it back. Tighten the resulting loop with your fingers. The resulting loop should look like the picture.

4. Having filled in the first square in this way, proceed to the next one.

The finished work may look sloppy due to protruding ends. In this case, the threads must be cut. Carpet embroidery technique allows you to create a plain rug, the pattern of which will be created by threads of different lengths.

But the difference in length should be no more than one centimeter, otherwise the product will look shaggy.
