Cold porcelain is a mass that resembles plasticine or polymer clay. Ideal for any kind of work. It dries quickly and then becomes very hard. It is absolutely harmless, so children can trust it without fear.
Cold porcelain can be bought or made at home. On sale, there is usually a mass of only one color - white. To obtain different colors, dyes are added to it. You can also paint the finished figure with acrylic paints. Sometimes you can see flesh-colored cold porcelain on sale. It is commonly used when sculpting body parts.
If you decide to sculpt products from cold porcelain, then, in addition to the mass itself, you will need: a set of special sticks (stacks), rolling pins, silicone molds (leaves, flowers), molds for making flat figures, acrylic glue, toothpicks (for small flowers), flower wire, syringe with holes (or extruder), varnish (shiny or matte).
At home, cold porcelain can be prepared in two ways - on fire and in the microwave. In this article we will tell you how to prepare mass for modeling inoven.
To do this, you will need the following ingredients: 2 small cups of cornmeal, 2 small mugs of PVA glue, 10 milliliters of lemon juice, 20 milliliters of petroleum jelly or glycerin, 1 milliliter of hand cream (preferably non-greasy), a wooden spoon and a glass bowl.
Cooking algorithm:
1. Mix all ingredients (except cream) in a glass bowl. Mix well into a homogeneous mass.
2. Put the bowl in the microwave for three minutes at maximum temperature. At the same time, stir the dough once a minute with a wooden spoon so that all components undergo the same heat treatment. If necessary, you can keep the dough in the microwave for another 2-3 minutes, remembering to stir it.
After processing the dough in the oven, knead it well with your hands. To do this, spread 10 milliliters of hand cream evenly over a smooth surface. Put the hot mass on the cream and start kneading it with your hands. Remember, the longer you do this, the easier it will be to work later.
Then roll the mass into a roller and wrap it in cling film. Avoid prolonged exposure to cold porcelain in the air! Because of this, it may lose its qualities and dry out!
How to color cold porcelain? To obtain the desired color, just add oil paint to the mass. So you can get both bright and pastel colors. Food coloring is also allowed.
Tip: when making crafts from cold porcelain insilicone mold, use cream. This is necessary so that the mass does not stick to the silicone walls.
There is no need to put cream on your hands before starting work, as cold porcelain is not sticky.
It is convenient to create realistic flowers and bouquets, various fine details, wall panels, small figurines and figurines from this material. Unfortunately, cold porcelain jewelry is short-lived, as this material is "afraid" of water and high humidity. For this reason, after the figurine has frozen, it must be painted and varnished.
