If you are new to the world of board games and have not yet had time to learn all the existing card strategies, then this article will undoubtedly be useful to you. Today I will tell you about what "Innovation" is. Let this game for the first time can push away the abundance of terms and the complexity of the process, but you should not give it up after the first try. After all, the game "Innovation" was opened to almost all of its fans in full only from the second, or even the third time. So it's worth taking the time to understand the process, because as a result, you can have a very pleasant time.
So what is "Innovation"? There are several categories of cards in the game: general cards, divided into 10 eras (from primitive to informational), sphere of influence cards (five in total, issued for certain achievements) and tablets (one per player) containing brief reminders of the rules (which is quite useful for a beginner) and delimiting the personal zone of the participants.
There is also a common area containing era cards and ten leadership cards (one from each era corresponding tovalues - from 1 to 10). The most common victory condition is to collect the maximum number of leadership cards (purchased with influence points that can be accumulated using the properties of active era cards) and spheres of influence. This number becomes smaller the more people participate in the game.
And how to activate the properties, and what can they be? In order to answer this question in the most accessible way, it is necessary to describe how the "Innovation" takes place. The game cannot boast of the complexity of the rounds and the variety of phases of the move, but sometimes this is more of an advantage than a disadvantage. During his turn, a player can take two actions (or do the same thing twice): draw an era card, throw a card from his hand into the play area, activate a card from the play area, gain leadership.
Let's consider each action in more detail. Age cards are taken in ascending order. That is, first all the cards of the first era are disassembled, then the second, and so on (if the activated dogma does not indicate which card of which era should be taken). If there are no cards of the era that is required, then the player takes a more progressive card.
Era maps have resources and properties: cooperative (friendly) and aggressive dogmas. They also differ in color, and when cards of a repeated color are dropped into the playing area, the earlier card will be closed (archived).
What is "Innovation" in terms of game mechanics? In general, the main gameplay is to activate dogmas, with which you can influence bothown cards in the hand and the playing area, as well as on the cards of opponents. The main options for activating a particular property are: discard or take a card, archive it (put down piles of the corresponding color), recycle it (return it to the common zone, under the bottom of the pile of the corresponding era), set off (move it to the zone of influence), move the stack (the emergence of additional resources).
Whether it will be possible to use dogma on opponents directly depends on the amount of their resource indicated on the activated card. When using an aggressive dogma, it affects those players who have fewer resources in the game than the provocateur, and when activating the cooperative dogma, only those who have the same or more corresponding icons on the cards in their personal play area will be able to take advantage of it.
In general, the essence of the game is that it is necessary, by activating various dogmas, to accumulate influence and not allow other players to do this, to acquire leadership with the accumulated points (the purchase ratio is 1 to 5, that is, for the acquisition of leadership 1 level you will need 5 points, and at level 5 already 25 points) and carefully monitor the tables of opponents, preventing aggressive actions in your direction.
I hope that now you have a little understanding of what "Innovation" is and will certainly try it out.
