Paper balls can become not only a creative toy, but also a great budget decor. You can use them one at a time or make whole garlands. Here are some craft ideas for you. Instructions and a diagram of a paper ball are included with each option.

What do you need to make paper balls?

To make a paper ball with your own hands, you do not need special materials and tools. To do this, it is enough to have a sheet of paper. You can use any loose size: landscape paper, colored paper, wrapping paper, and so on.

You may need scissors, a needle and thread, glue or double-sided tape as additional materials.

Paper Origami - Accordion Ball

To make such an original garland, no special effort is required. It just takes a little perseverance.

Instructions on how to make paper balls:

1. Take a rectangular piece of paper (picture 1).
2. Draw rectangular lines with a pencil and a ruler (picture 2).
3. Thenin the middle of the leaf, perpendicular to the drawn lines, draw another one, zigzag (picture 2).
4. On the edges of the rectangle, between all the drawn lines, make holes with a regular needle (picture 3).
5. Fold the rectangle along the drawn lines into an accordion (picture 4).
6. Turn the sheet back and fold it in a zigzag line (picture 6).
7. Now carefully fold in and out on those lines that cross the zigzag (pictures 6 and 7). It takes patience. As a result, you should get such a strip of paper as in the picture 8.
8. Pass the needle and thread through the holes made in step 4 (picture 9).
9. Connect the thread and glue the ends of the paper with stationery glue (picture 10).

One voluminous paper ball is ready. Similarly, make a few more balls and connect them into a garland.

Magic paper ball

It will be more difficult to make such a magic paper ball. But the result of your work will be simply amazing! Therefore, the time and effort spent is worth it.

So, instructions on how to make paper balls:

1. Take a rectangular piece of paper. The aspect ratio should be approximately 1:2.
2. Fold it in half lengthwise.
3. Then unfold the sheet. You will have a long fold in the middle.
4. Make a few folds on both sides of the center. Their number above and belowshould be the same as their size. The more folds, the more beautiful the resulting ball will be.
5. Flatten the paper.
6. Fold it in half to make another fold that is perpendicular to the existing ones.
7. Unfold the sheet again and make a few more identical perpendicular folds, similarly to step 4.
8. Flatten the sheet and turn the reverse side towards you. Thus, the folds will be at the bottom.
9. Lay the sheet lengthwise. Take a pencil or pen and draw crosses (X) two lines of long folds high. The center of the cross should be on the perpendicular fold line. Thus, your cross will occupy four cells. Each next must be in contact with the previous one upper and one lower corner.
10. Fill the entire bottom of the sheet with crosses.
11. Draw the second row above the first, it should start by stepping back one cell. The third row should start where the first. Fill the sheet with rows of crosses to the end, remembering to alternate indents.
12. Start folding the sheet of crosses from the first row. The folds should be alternately first to the left, then to the right. For convenience, you can take a ruler.
13. Do the same with the rest of the rows of crosses.
14. When all the folds are ready, you can start assembling.

Assembling a magic paper ball

To assemble a paper ball, you need to follow these steps:

1. Put a sheet of paper with crosses up.
2. Take a leaf andstart bending the cross along the folds with the middle inside.
3. Do this with each of them all over the piece of paper.
4. You will end up with an original harmonica.
5. Rows along the edges of the sheet bend inward.
6. Take the glue and spread it around the edges.
7. Glue the edges of the sheet together.

The magic ball is ready!

Flower balloon

Instructions on how to make paper balls in this style:

1. Take a square piece of paper.
2. Connect opposite corners to form a triangle (picture 1).
3. Connect the two bottom corners with the top one (picture 2).
4. Fold the right triangle (picture 3). You will see that a fold line has turned out, which visually divides the corner into two parts (picture 4).
5. Fold the bottom triangle like in the picture 5.
6. Fold the edge. As a result, you should get as shown in the picture 6.
7. Tuck a small triangle under one layer of paper (picture 7).
8. Bend the "tail" of two triangles on the sides (picture 8).
9. Insert the triangles into the pocket closest to them (picture 9).
10. Five of these modules need to be glued together. In picture 10, the place of application of glue is conventionally indicated.
11. Glue all five molds together with the corners of the petals (picture 11).
12. When you connect all the modules, do not forget to glue the string if you plan to hang the ball.

Paper balloon

To create such a balloon, do the following:

1. Take a square piece of paper.
2. Bending its opposite corners, two pairs.
3. You have two visual fold lines that intersect in the middle.
4. Now take a sheet and make a triangle out of it. To do this, bend the sheet again, making a perpendicular line with respect to one of the existing ones. Folding the sheet.
5. Fold two corners of one of the triangles to the third one.
6. Repeat the same with the other side.
7. Now you have a diamond in front of you. Rotate one of its vertices up.
8. Fold the two vertices of the diamond to the middle, where you already have the connection of the two corners of the triangle.
9. Do the same with the other side of the diamond.
10. Press on one of the folded vertices.
11. Put one corner of the resulting figure into it.
12. Do the same with the next corner.
13. Turn the figure over and repeat steps 11 and 12.
14. Now turn what you got, the middle towards you. There turned out a hole through which you can inflate the balloon.

Tips

Some tips on how to make paper balls easily and simply:

1. To connect the edges of the paper, it is most convenient to use a glue stick. With it, the paper will stick together faster, and there will be no visible flows of excessglue.
2. In order to make folds, use an ordinary ruler.
3. To make the balloons truly original, take wrapping paper.
4. To decorate products, use beads, beads and small accessories.
5. Do not use cardstock as the sheet needs to be folded several times. This cannot be done with cardboard.
