Today we will talk a little about boxes. They are so necessary for any woman to store threads and needles, favorite jewelry or, perhaps, priceless letters and postcards, as in the last century. Oh what am I talking about? Letters in the age of SMS? Okay, let's stick with pins and hairpins.
So, what kind of box would you personally choose for yourself, your beloved? Carved, rosewood or mahogany? Good choice, I agree. But carved boxes are very expensive and not everyone can afford it.
So let's set realistic goals, consider something more budgetary. For example, wooden boxes, without carvings and lacquer, or lacquered, in the style of Palekh and Khokhloma.
What is it? You don't like what everyone can freely buy in the store?
Do you want something unique, exclusive, unique in the world? No problem, we'll do it ourselves! After all, the art of decoupage has long been and firmly
has taken a worthy place in our life with you.
Decoupage of the box can be done in a modern version or as an antique stylization.
For the second option, in addition to conventional materials, you will need an additional special craquelure varnish, but in gener althe sequence of actions will besame.
Take the item to decorate.
It can be a simple wooden blank box, or an old box that we will give a new look, or just a strong cardboard box, because nothing more suitable was found.
So, let's start creating. We start decoupage of the box with its preliminary preparation.
If the thing is old, then it is better to clean the surface with sandpaper and lightly sand it.
Especially if it has been varnished because the surface needs to adhere well to the primer.
A new surface is easy enough to degrease, for example, with acetone. Then we cover the prepared surface with acrylic primer using a regular paint brush..
The primer resembles paint, only a little thicker.. If suddenly you could not find it - there is no big trouble, you can use acrylic paint in 2-3 layers. Each one needs to dry well. If you don't have the patience to wait for the layer to dry completely, use a regular hair dryer to dry.
So, the decoupage of the box has passed its first stage. The soil is dry, you can move on. Prepare decor and varnish. As a decor, you can use three-layer paper napkins, special decoupage cards, or just pictures and even old photographs. Pictures and photographs should be soaked in a plate of warm water, and then the excess paper should be carefully “rolled up” from the inside of them so that a very thin outer layer remains. Separate the top layer from the napkins. And fromdecoupage card cut out individual motifs with sharp scissors.
Now you need to arrange the prepared decor elements on the future box the way you want. You can stick one large drawing on the lid, and simply paint the sides with acrylic paint. This decor option is especially suitable for decoupage with a photograph. You can decorate the entire visible surface - it's a matter of your imagination and taste. At the end, we cover the finished product with acrylic varnish in 2 layers. The decoupage of the box is completed. Really, it turned out very nice?
