Do you want to learn how to crochet a sweater, but don't know how to do it and what to do? Let's try to solve this problem together!
Crochet today is considered one of the most popular types of needlework: it captivates, and the results of the work cannot but rejoice. And how could it be otherwise, if the result of interesting, but painstaking work is a high-quality, beautiful, practical thing, made taking into account all your parameters and features of the figure, and even with your own hands! So, if you're willing to give it a try, make sure you also have all the tools and materials to help you get started with crochet sweaters.
What do you need?
First, buy threads (yarn). For a crochet sweater, an average of 600 grams of yarn may be required. Of course, it all depends on the style and the person who will wear the product. Secondly, get a crochet. Hooks come in different sizes and diameters, which affects the density of knitting and, in general, the resulting fabric. Thirdly, prepare, just in case, scissors, a centimeter tape, ordinary threads and a needle. These can all come in handy.
How to start crochet a sweater?
Your first task is to choose a model for the future outfit and select yarn. If you want to knit a warm sweater, give preference to twisted or fluffy; and choose thin cotton threads if you are interested in crochet summer sweaters. The diagrams usually contain information about which threads to choose, so this is unlikely to be a problem. On the thread label, by the way, the diameter of the hook will be indicated, which is most suitable for them.
Before knitting, build a pattern of the future product on paper. It is important that the dimensions on paper exactly match the real ones. So it will be easier to compare them and you can be sure that everything will turn out clearly according to the parameters. When the pattern is ready, you can safely proceed!
You should start crocheting a sweater from the back. First of all, a chain of air loops is typed, then columns (or other loops according to the scheme) are knitted in the forward and reverse direction. When the back is ready, start knitting the armholes.
To make armholes, you need to leave a few loose loops in one row, decreasing this number with each row. To make the shoulder bevels, a few loops are left untied in every second row. Shelves (if any) are knitted in the same way: armholes and a neck are also knitted in them.
The neck line is formed by decreasing loops in every second row (1st loop). The sleeves are also knitted in a peculiar way. It is necessary to expand them upwards by adding each timeone loop. All decreases and increases can be corrected using a paper pattern, which should always be at hand and show in time if something went wrong somewhere.
When all the parts are connected, start assembling the product. First, the side and shoulder seams are made and the sleeves are sewn in. Along the fastener and neck, the details are tied using different techniques. The last step is sewing on buttons.
So, knitting a sweater is actually not as difficult as it seems. Crochet sweaters (photos prove this) always look impressive and beautiful, so it's definitely worth a try! If you have the desire, time and all the necessary materials, you can proceed. Moreover, now you know how to crochet a sweater. Good luck!
