1. Slip off the first one and knit the next one with a loop according to the picture.
2. With a knitting needle in the left hand, hook the edge and pull the knitted loop through it. Only one loop will remain on the right.
3. Knit the next loop according to the pattern and repeat the steps.

This should be done until the last loop, so that there is always only one loop on the right side. Tear off the thread, leaving the end 4-5 cm, and thread it through the loop, tying a knot on it. During work, you should make sure that the pigtail does not tighten, but remains free.

This type of closing of loops with knitting needles should not be used for a finished elastic pattern, since the resulting pigtail will not stretch. It is also important to take into account the thickness of the yarn and its friability, trying not to pull the product. To finish a thing, you need:

1. Knit the first and subsequent stitches together behind the walls behind the needle.
2. Return the resulting loop to the left needle and again make one loop out of two.
3. Do this until the end.

Pull the edge of the product a little when there is only the last loop left and, as in the previous example, break the thread so that you can tie a knot. On the right side, the product should be completed with facial loops, and on the back - with purl loops. This is the most common method.

Close elastic band 2x2 without needle

To make the end of the 2x2 elastic merge with the pattern itself and stretch, but do not use a needle, do the following:

1. Knit the first two loops according to the pattern.
2. On the needle in the left hand, throw the first loop and thread the other through it.
3. Knit the next purl and do the previous steps.
4. Until the last loop, knit according to the pattern, while only one loop should remain on the right knitting needle after pulling.

Finish in the usual way. So you can finish the elastic band 1x1.

Sometimes a large needle or hook is used to collect loops. You should choose only the appropriate method.
