- round base;

- ordinary children's plasticine;

- several sheets of paper;

- PVA (as an option - starchy paste);

- cardboard box;

- tie cord;

- silver paint;

- mesh for aventail (back).

To make some of the details of a fancy dress, you often have to use unusual means. You can make a hero’s helmet with your own hands with their use. There are various ways to solve this problem.

Getting Started

First, find a suitable base for your creation. It should be round and convex. Make sure that its diameter matches the size of the head of the future hero. As a base, you can use a globe, a ball or a latex balloon. Separately, make a pointed top in the shape of a cone. Blind it from plasticine and attach it to the sphere.

Now look for the right paper. Choose thin enough material. It can be, say, standard A4 sheets. Despite popular belief about papier-mâché newspapers, it is best not to use them. The fact is that the surface of such paper is very loose, and the printing ink on it will be quite difficult to disguise.

For the top coat you will need napkins. Tear all the material into small squares with a side of two centimeters. Pour water into a bowl and soak one-sixth of the base paper in it (do not touch the napkins for now).

Shaping the body

Coat the layout with any greasy ointment. With its help, later you can easily remove the finished product from it.helmet.

Spread the softened paper evenly over the surface of the workpiece. Make sure that the edges of adjacent fragments overlap each other.

Don't leave empty spaces between them. Then, following the same pattern, lay out the next layer and cover it with glue.

It is best applied with a soft squirrel hair brush or foam sponge. Upon completion of work, the tool must be thoroughly rinsed under the tap.

Form a hero's helmet with your own hands from seven such paper layers, gluing them through one. Then let the product dry well. This process usually takes three to five days.

During this time, you can prepare the rest of the details of your craft. Among them is a protective plate on the nose. As a material, you can use cardboard or papier-mâché.

If you choose the second option, you will need a plasticine base. It must be covered with paper in the same way as the entire body.

A special mesh is attached to the back of the helmet. It can be cut from fabric or crocheted with threads with a shiny finish. When the helmet of the hero, made with your own hands, dries, you will need to remove it from the base.

Using extra pieces of paper, glue the nose plate to it. Using an awl, drill a few holes in the bottom and fix the finished mesh in them.

Now you can move on to the final stage of work - painting. Spray the acrylic evenlycan.

To get a beautiful intense color, apply paint in two or three layers. Wait until the paint applied last time is completely dry before starting the next run.

Bottle to help

- large disposable plastic cup;

- a bag used for washing clothes;

- silver spray acrylic;

To this end, cut off its bottom and upper folded part. Twist the desired shape from the remaining walls. Fasten the sides with double-sided tape, and get rid of excess with scissors. Using the same retainer, attach the element to the main body of the product.

Designing

Now let's move on to work on the chain mail part. It can be cut out of a washing bag. This material is optimal for this case, it is easy to get, and it is not at all expensive. A dense mesh, which is used for its manufacture, has an expressive texture that is clearly visible. Paint the future chain mail with silver spray acrylic.

Do the same operation with the main body of the craft. After the first application of paint, you will notice that the workpiece has become less transparent. To enhance this effect, apply a couple more layers. Do not start work on a new layer until the previous one is dry.

Now mark the places on the product where you will attach the mesh. Glue double-sided tape to them and attach the finished chain mail. Try on the resulting headdress. This is where your work ends.

Working with fabric

The do-it-yourself hero's helmet can also be made from fabric. To do this, you will need three of its types: dense, adhesive, and also a silver mesh. In addition, in the work we will use braid, cardboard and acrylic in a spray can.

First, make four to eight wedges from the base material and sew them together. As a template, a Budenov pattern is suitable. The do-it-yourself hero's helmet is very similar in shape to this hat of the Red Army soldiers.

To add extra density to the product, cover the inside of the workpiece with a glue cloth and sew a band around its edges. Now cut the aventail out of the mesh - chain mail for the back of the craft. After forming small folds on it, attach the part using a glue gun.

Making from cardboard

You can also make a hero's helmet out of cardboard with your own hands. A photo of your baby in this accessory will please you for more than one year. In addition to the base material,you will need a silver self-adhesive and mesh.

The pattern below will come in handy for this model. Cut out several wedges using this template and glue them from the inside of the product. As a fixative, use ordinary tape or strips of paper smeared with glue. Previously, each part of the helmet must be covered with a layer of shiny paper.

Full Gear

If you want, improve this headdress model with additional elements. For example, attach cardboard auxiliary shields to the bottom of it.

You can make armor from the same material, decorating them with a shiny coating. And from the net for aventail, sew chain mail onto the body. To create a complete image of a hero, cut out a shield from the wall of a large box. Use an old mop handle as material for the spear. And make a sword out of thick cardboard, giving it shine with self-adhesive tape.
