A very large niche in modern needlework has been occupied by such a direction as the creation of an interior doll. It would seem that little girls should play with such toys, but no, adult women not only sew, but also collect them, placing them on the shelves of their homes, exchanging them with other needlewomen and giving them to their adult relatives and friends. And the pattern of the doll helps them in this. And not just one, but dozens.
Started more than ten years ago in Norway. The first pattern of a tilde doll was invented by a girl from this northern country, Tony Finanger. In 1999, she opened her first store called "Tilda" and published two books: "Tilda Christmas" and "Tilda Easter". The books gave a step-by-step description of the creation of toys, and the store sold separate master classes and all the materials necessary for needlework.
Tildes are called primitive toys. They do not have a clearly defined face, the hallmarks of dolls are rouged cheeks and smallbeady eyes. According to the original idea, the eyes should be made using the French knot technique, but you can also make them from beads or even draw dots with acrylic paints.
For sewing tildes, natural fabrics are used: cotton, flannel, calico, linen, felt, wool and felt. The colors of the materials are mostly delicate, pastel. Abroad, a special fabric for primitive toys is produced - the so-called "American cotton", sewing from it is a pleasure. Russian needlewomen either order it via the Internet, or get out by picking up material in local stores. But finding a beautiful color with a small pattern can be difficult. Shops specializing in tilde toys are opening in some major cities and have everything you need for tailoring: books by Tony Finanger, doll pattern, fabrics and stuffing material, buttons, ribbons, lace, hair and ready-made products.
Tildes are different. Under this name, princesses, fairies, girls of the "working profession" are sewn: poultry, gardeners, dressmakers. There are tildes - fairy-tale characters: Pinocchio, the steadfast tin soldier and his ballerina, Santa Claus. Tony also came up with a large number of animal toys: sheep, cats, giraffes, geese, snails and many others. Tilds are also called small souvenirs sewn from suitable fabrics: hearts, strawberries, tulips.
The books of Tony Finanger have not been translated into Russian, but this does not prevent needlewomen from sewing toys: the pattern of the doll is simple and understandable. For sewing, you canuse a sewing machine, but the author herself most often makes products by hand.
There are a few tricks that allow you to sew a toy that looks like the original. The tilde doll pattern has its own characteristics: the arms and legs are very thin. To turn the fabric inside out, it is convenient to use a wooden Japanese chopstick. The limbs are stuffed loosely to the middle, and then the knee and elbow bends are stitched, so the doll can sit and hold various objects in her hands. Arms and legs are sewn to the body either with hidden stitches or with the help of button fastening.
Tilde girls can boast of a wonderful tan. To get this color, the fabric is dyed. There are two ways. First: boil the fabric in water with a few bags of black tea or coffee. Second: paint the finished doll body. To do this, make a mixture of coffee, cocoa, cinnamon, vanillin, water and PVA glue. Tildes painted like this will smell amazing!
Today, the name Tony is known to almost all needlewomen in the world, the pattern of the doll turned out to be so successful.
