Beer cardboard is widely used in scrapbooking. It is made from wood pulp. Due to this, the material has a high level of hygroscopicity. Beer cardboard owes its name to beer bars, where it was used as coasters. It absorbs up to 300% moisture. However, it can be used repeatedly.

Beer scrapbooking board has a multilayer structure. It is lightweight and can be easily cut with scissors and a knife. You need to bend the cardboard as carefully as possible, since it does not have high flexibility. Carelessness can lead to the appearance of ugly creases and delamination. The material comes in various densities and thicknesses, so it is actively used to create covers and scrap pages. You can also make various crafts from it: coasters, boxes, decorative houses, trays, etc. Cardboard is sold in sheets of various sizes: from 15 x 15 cm to 30.5 x 30.5 cm.

Subtleties of working with material

  • Beer cardboard has a dense structure, so it is better to use a construction cutter to work with it. An ordinary stationery knife will not work, because it does not have such a strong blade. During operation, it bends and spoils the material.
  • The blade of a construction knife should always be sharp, so change the attachments for it as often as possible.
  • Use metal rulers to draw lines and cut the necessary pieces. They will not be damaged by interaction with the sharp blade of a construction cutter. The best option is to use a construction ruler with a level.
  • Beer cardboard cannot be cut with a runner cutter. If you are planning to get professional tools, look into guillotine knives.

Craft options

For the manufacture of various boxes and coasters, it is better to take 1 mm beer cardboard, and for pages, frames and covers - 1.5 mm. You will also need additional materials: scissors, pencils, knives, decorative items, etc.
